AFC U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers Group F - Hong Kong U20 1:5 Indonesia U20
Hong Kong U20 Men's Representative Team and Indonesia U20 National Team went toe-to-toe on Friday evening in Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, Indonesia for an epic battle in the AFC U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers Group F. Hong Kong put up a gallant effort on the night but suffered a disappointing 1:5 defeat against Indonesia.
Indonesia was extremely aggressive and took the game straight at Hong Kong, creating lots of trouble for the team through dangerous wing plays.
On the 9th minute, an Indonesia free-kick from the left flank was headed on by Ahmad Rusadi, Unfortunately for the home side, Rusadi's header could not trouble Hong Kong goalkeeper Pong Cheuk-hei.
Shortly afterwards, Arsa Ahmad pulled the trigger from inside the Hong Kong penalty area but was kicked away by Pong Cheuk-hei in the Hong Kong net.
On the 18th minute, it was still Indonesia. Rabbani Siddiq connected with a teammate's cross and headed the ball home, opening the score for the home side.
On the 23rd minute, Hong Kong came up with a rare scoring chance. Adriel Chan fired a tight angle shot from the left wing but was easily claimed by the Indonesia goalkeeper.
Late in the first half, Achmad Syarif broke through down the middle and fired a quick shot, only to be cleared off the goal-line by Xavier Chang.
Right before the half time whistle, a slick build up play by Indonesia was finished off by Zanadin Fariz. It was now 3:0 for the home side heading into half time.
After the interval, Hong Kong's play picked up and the team drew level.
On the 63rd minute, an Indonesian player committed a foul inside his own box. The referee quickly gave Hong Kong a penalty-shot. Chen Ngo-hin stepped up to the penalty-spot but saw his initial strike saved by the Indonesia goalkeeper. Chen was extremely alert and buried his own rebound, pulling one back for Hong Kong.
On the 86th minute, Indonesia answered back, as a slick forward pass found Marselino Ferdinan down the right side. The latter fired towards the far-side and found the back of the Hong Kong net.
Late in the game, Marselino Ferdinan converted a peanalty-shot to round Indonesia's 5:1 victory over Hong Kong.
