2020-21 BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League – Happy Valley 1:3 Tin Shui Wai Pegasus
Happy Valley entertained Tin Shui Wai Pegasus on Thursday evening for the only BOC Hong Kong Premier League fixture of the day. Tin Shui Wai Pegasus came back from a one-goal deficit and pulled off a 3:1 victory over Happy Valley.
Tin Shui Wai Pegasus almost nicked an early lead on the 12th minute. Jose Borges connected with a teammate’s heading pass and dished out an acrobatic left-foot strike from deep inside the Happy Valley box. Unfortunately for the Tin Shui Wai Pegasus player, his shot failed to hit the intended target.
Shortly afterwards, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus came up with yet another scoring chance. On the 16th minute, Marcos Da Silva pushed forward with the ball, carved open the Happy Valley with a superb pass and found teammate Sun Ming-him. The latter picked up the ball on the left side of the Happy Valley penalty area, then unleashed a ferocious shot but blasted the ball wide.
On the other end, Happy Valley duly opened the score. On the 24th minute, Lam Ngai-tung sent Ng Ka-yeung flying down the right wing with a lovely pass. The latter dashed into the Tin Shui Wai Pegasus penalty area and whipped a great cross to the goal-mouth. An unmarked Roberto Odu reached the back-post and tucked the ball home with ease.
Tin Shui Wai Pegasus generated a half-decent chance to tie the game. On the 34th minute, Marcos Da Silva delivered a teasing corner-kick into the Happy Valley box. The ball was ineffectively headed away by the Happy Valley defense. Tse Long-hin latched onto the loose ball but drilled it wide off the net.
Late in the first half, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus had another chance to equalize. On the 43rd minute, Chan Pak-hang knocked a great cross into the Happy Valley box. Sun Ming-him dished out a tasty header but could not beat Happy Valley goalkeeper To Chun-kiu with his effort.
Deep in stoppage time, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus’ Marcos Da Silva unleashed a cracking long-range drive straight to the Happy Valley net, only to be spectacularly turned away by To Chun-kiu in the Happy Valley goal. Tin Shui Wai Pegasus remained down by a goal heading into half time.
Tin Shui Wai Pegasus managed to tie the game early in the second half. On the 48th minute, Kessi Dos Santos picked out teammate Marcos Da Silva with a nice pass. The Brazilian attacker took control of the ball, then belted a sweet shot that entered the net through the far side. The game was now tied at 1:1.
Tin Shui Wai Pegasus generated another scoring chance on the 54th minute. Sun Ming-him intercepted an opponent’s pass down the left wing and pushed forward with the ball. Sun then knocked the ball forward to Nilson Dos Santos. The latter pulled the trigger on a bouncing shot but fired the ball narrowly wide off the Happy Valley net.
The visitors pulled in front on the 59th minute. Marcos Da Silva collected the ball on the left side and delivered a great cross into the Happy Valley box. Striker Nilson Dos Santos headed the ball back to the goal-mouth. Lai Kak-yi applied a leaping header and sent the ball into the Happy Valley net.
Happy Valley came up with a rare scoring chance on the 65th minute. Striker Chu Wai-kwan spun and fired from outside of the Tin Shui Wai Pegasus penalty area but could not solve goalkeeper Leung Hing-kit with his shot.
The home side kept pressing for the tying goal. On the 74th minute, veteran Tsang Chi-hau pulled the trigger on a long-range bomb, forcing out a superb flying save from Tin Shui Wai Pegasus goalkeeper Leung Hing-kit.
On the other end, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus had a glorious chance to pull further away. A fast break saw the ball reaching Marcos Da Silva inside the Happy Valley box. The latter teed up a wide-open Sun Ming-him but the latter fired the ball wide. Sun probably would like to have the chance back.
Tin Shui Wai Pegasus hit Happy Valley with another goal. On the 80th minute, burly striker Nilson Dos Santos unleashed a curling right-footer from the right side of the Happy Valley box and found the back of the net, making it 3:1 for the New Territories side.
On the 90th minute, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus almost expanded its lead, as Fong Pak-lun’s shot from inside the Happy Valley box rung off the woodwork and went out of play.
Both sides failed to add to the score in the remaining regulation time, as Tin Shui Wai Pegasus came from behind and beat Happy Valley by 3:1.
