Arrangement of 2020-21 BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League and Sapling Cup Match Resumption
Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) has been communicating with relevant departments of the government closely. Further to training resumption on specific venues for eight participating teams of BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League starting from 3 February, HKFA has received confirmation that Hong Kong Premier League would be allowed to resume matches under required hygiene measures. The matches will be held at 4 specific venues of Leisure and Cultural Services Department including Mongkok Stadium, Hong Kong Stadium, Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground and Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground*. The match resumption will begin with four matches of Sapling Cup and the first match will be kicked off on 20 February. Regarding the details of fixture will annouced after the venue is finalized. In order to ensure the implement of hygiene measures and social distancing, matches will be resumed behind closed door.
In addition, since 2020-21 BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League matches has been postponed for more than two months since December last year due to the pandemic situation, there is not sufficient time for the rest of matches for 2020-21 season. In view of this, HKFA have reached an agreement with clubs and relevant parties, HKFA announced that 2020-21 HKFA Senior Shield, FA Cup and Reserve Division league would be cancelled.
*Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground will not be used as the venue of match resumption until 7 March due to urgent repair work.
