Lee Man’s Ngan Lok-fung lands BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League MVP honor (December 2019)
He gives it his all every time when he steps on the pitch and he never shies away from any tackle on the field.
The hard-work of Lee Man midfielder Ngan Lok-fung has finally paid dividends, as the local player picks up the BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League MVP honor (December 2019), co-chosen by the Hong Kong Football Association and the Hong Kong Sports Press Association.
Having appeared in eighteen games for Lee Man in all competitions so far this season (until 17th March 2020), started and played the full 720 minutes in Lee Man’s eight premier league fixtures, Ngan Lok-fung has, without a shadow of doubt, become an instrumental figure in the Lee Man midfield.
Armed with endless energy and always finds himself in the thick of things, Ngan managed to score the lone goal in Lee Man’s premier league clash against Eastern Long Lions back in December, giving Lee Man all three points from the crucial league encounter against one of its title-rivals.
While Lee Man went on and secured a 100% winning record in December – notching four wins, fourteen goals and conceding only once along the way, there is little doubt that Ngan has played a huge role in the team’s tremendous success in the month.
The personable Ngan acknowledges collecting the Monthly MVP honor has been an amazing feeling.
“I watched other players winning the MVP honor before and surely, I wanted a taste of it as well,” Ngan admitted with a smile.
“We lacked a bit of consistency last season but the team has gradually found its form in the new campaign, steadily climbing on the league table and delivering some decent results in December. That really helped me gained people’s attention. In that sense, credit must go to all my teammates and everyone in the Club for helping me to win this MVP award.”
On the other hand, Ngan also confesses with all the ups-and-downs so far in his career, collecting the MVP honor for December is certainly a bit of a sweet reward.
“The team went through some struggles in the past and so did I. That really makes it extra special to win this MVP honor as a Lee Man player,” said the all-action midfielder.
“Lee Man is not a one-man team and we have more than one or two quality performers in the squad. We always need everyone to pull together in order to accomplish our goals. We won all four matches in December and that was a 100% team-effort.”
Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, Ngan stresses that Lee Man will not be resting on its laurels.
“We are doing okay at the moment but we must remember we are only half-way to our target,” offered the midfield bulldog.
“While we might have made it to the Senior Shield Final, no one can predict who will be the last team standing. At the same time, despite staying near the top of the premier league, teams can still overtake us with their remaining fixtures.”
“Hence, we must keep plugging along in our remaining games, improve our consistency and gradually march towards our targets.”
