2019-2020 Jockey Club Girls' League – League Update


Shatin locked horns with Kitchee on Wednesday evening in Kowloon Bay Sports Ground for a Jockey Club Girls’ League fixture. Two goals in the first-half were all Kitchee needed on the evening, as the Shek Mun-based side went on to beat Shatin by 2:0.

Kitchee dominated the proceedings after the first whistle. On the 8th minute, a Kitchee player knocked the ball towards the Shatin penalty area. Shum Hau Nam, Cat reached the ball before the Shatin keeper Cheng Hoi Nam, then showed great composure and slid the ball into the empty net, putting her side in front 1:0.

Kitchee kept the pressure coming and nearly added another goal on the 15th minute. Shum Hau Nam, Cat picked up the ball through a neat pass from VASTOLA, Georgina Mail, then pulled the trigger from inside the box but was turned away by Cheng Hoi Nam.

Shatin came up with a rare scoring chance on the 24th minute, as Chan Sing Sen’s delivery found teammate Chu Sin Kwan. The latter unleashed a quick-shot from inside the box but saw her effort smothered by the Kitchee goalkeeper.

Past the half-hour mark, Kitchee had a great chance to double its lead. On the 32nd minute, Shum Hau Nam, Cat’s tight-angle shot was brilliantly charged away by the Shatin shot-stopper. VASTOLA, Georgina Mail went for the rebound but smashed the ball right at the Shatin goal-post and went out of play.

However, Kitchee was not to be denied. On the 37th minute, a fantastic Kitchee build-up saw the ball dropping in front of KIM, KARISSA Y. The Kitchee player did not disappoint and duly knocked the ball into the Shatin net, giving her team a 2:0 lead.

Kitchee continued to lay pressure towards the Shatin goal in the second-half.

On the 43rd minute, Shum Hau Nam, Cat’s right-footer from inside the Shatin box was nicely claimed by Cheng Hoi Nam.

Moments later, a long-range drive from Chu So Kwan was once again turned away by the well-positioned Shatin custodian.

On the 66th minute, Kitchee nearly added another goal. This time, JAKIMICOVA, LEA’s shot was blocked away by Cheng Hoi Nam, KIM, KARISSA Y tried to convert the rebound at the back-post but drove the ball over the crossbar.

The score stood towards the final whistle, as Kitchee went on to beat Shatin by 2:0 on the evening.
