2019-2020 Jockey Club Girls' League – League Update

A battle in the Jockey Club Girls’ League between Kowloon Cricket Club and Citizen took place in Causeway Bay Sports Ground on last Tuesday. Citizen’s offensive prowess was on full display, as the side went on to beat Kowloon Cricket Club by 7:0.

Despite facing a much physical opponent, Citizen was not deterred and quickly gained control of the match. In the opening minutes, CHAN Chung Man, Kerri and Limbu, Sneha both came up with scoring chances but could not solve Kowloon Cricket Club goalkeeper Chan, Sharon with their respective efforts.

On the 18th minute, Citizen’s CHAN Chung Man, Kerri made a great individual run down the middle, before finishing things off with a clinical shot. Citizen was up by a goal.

Citizen doubled its lead on the 26th minute, as Limbu, Sneha’s shot was paved by Kowloon Cricket Club goalkeeper Chan, Sharon, yet the ball still got enough pace to trickle into the net. The score was now 2:0 for Citizen.

On the 35th minute, Citizen added another goal. This time, LI Hau Yi took aim from the middle of the box and found the back of the Kowloon Cricket Club through a low-drive. It was now 3:0 for Citizen.

Citizen got off to a fast start in the second-half. On the 45th minute, CHAN Chung Man, Kerri showed off great speed down the right-wing before sending a perfect cross towards the middle. Limbu, Sneha added a simple tap-in and sent the ball into the Kowloon Cricket Club goal. Citizen was up 4:0 by now.

Citizen was not yet done and hit the scoreboard once again on the 53rd minute. This time, Limbu, Sneha’s shot was stopped by Chan, Sharon in the Kowloon Cricket Club net. CHAN Chung Man, Kerri converted the rebound and slotted the ball home. It was 5:0 at this point for Citizen.

A few minutes later, Citizen netted a great goal, as Limbu, Sneha buried CHING Ka Yam’s cross through a cheeky back-heel, turning it into a 6:0 lead for her side.

Citizen added another goal on the 68th minute. HUI Yee Sum connected with a teammate’s corner-kick delivery and directed the ball home. Citizen now had a commanding 7:0 lead.

Late in the game, Kowloon Cricket Club had a half-decent chance to break the goose-egg, yet Panagiotopoulos, Kyra Jade’s long shot was safely handled by the Citizen goalkeeper.

The 7:0 score eventually stood towards the final whistle, as Citizen went on to beat Kowloon Cricket Club and claimed all three points.
