2019-2020 Jockey Club Women's League (1st Div.) - League Update


Standard Perpetual MLFA and Happy Valley gathered in Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre No.5 on last Saturday evening for a Jockey Club Women’s League (First Division) clash. Happy Valley went firing on all cylinders and defeated Standard Perpetual MLFA by 10:0.

Happy Valley got off to a fast start in the game. On the 8th minute, Sin Chung-yee floated a teasing free-kick into the box. Wong Suk-fan one-timed at the ball and smashed it home, putting Happy Valley in front 1:0.

On the 14th minute, Happy Valley doubled its lead. Tsang La-mei delivered a great cross from the left-wing. Standard Perpetual MLFA goalkeeper failed to secure the cross and her teammate duly cleared the ball away. Sin Chung-yee collected the loose ball and blasted a cannon to the back of the net. The score was now 2:0.

Moments later, Standard Perpetual MLFA came up with a decent scoring chance, as Urabe, Michelle Nuiko picked up the ball through a pass from Coombs, Kerri-Anne. Urabe, Michelle Nuiko pulled the trigger on a right-footer but was turned away from Ng Cheuk-wai in the Happy Valley goal.

It was 3:0 for Happy Valley on the 27th minute, as Tsang Lai-mei picked up the ball from Wong Suk-fan, then hit the back of the opposing goal through the far-side.

Shortly past the half-hour mark, it was 4:0 for Happy Valley. Yasmin Sung pulled the ball back for teammate Yiu Hei-man. The latter unleashed a cheeky lob shot that gave Standard Perpetual MLFA goalkeeper no chance.

Happy Valley had another chance to add to its lead late in the first-half, yet Poon Ka-ka’s header from inside the box rung off the Standard Perpetual MLFA crossbar.

Early in the second-half, Happy Valley was at it again. This time, Wong Suk-fan’s cross was headed towards goal by Sin Chung-yee, only to witness her header hitting the goal-post and staying out of the net.

On the 59th minute, Happy Valley hit the scoreboard once again. This time, Yasim Sung found herself on the receiving end of a teammate’s forward pass, got past the opposing goalkeeper and calmly slid the ball into the empty net. It was now 5:0 with Happy Valley in front.

On the 62nd minute, Happy Valley netted another goal. Yasim Sung found daylight well outside the Standard Perpetual MLFA penalty area and sent a long-range lob shot towards goal. The ball duly entered the net. Happy Valley was up by 6:0 at this point.

Wong Suk-fun made it 7:0 for Happy Valley on the 66th minute, as the veteran received the ball from Yasmin Sung, then darted into the box and coolly finished things off by firing the ball into the Standard Perpetual MLFA goal.

Happy Valley pulled further away on the 72nd minute, as Tsang Lai-mei connected with a So Hoi-lam cross and scored from the far-side. It was now 8:0 for Happy Valley.

On the 86th minute, it was now 8:0. Wong Suk-fan delivered a sweet cross towards the Standard Perpetual MLFA goal-mouth. Poon Ka-ka applied a leaping header and sent the ball into the net. The score was now 9:0.

Late in the game, So Hoi-lam whipped in a teasing cross from the right wing. Yasmin Sung took down the ball and then fired it home, making it 10:0 in the process.

The score stood towards the final whistle, as Happy Valley went on to defeat Standard Perpetual MLFA by 10:0.
