Lee Man faced off against Kwoon Chung Southern in Sham Shui Po Sports Ground for a middle-weight clash in the BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League. It was end-to-end action from Lee Man and Kwoon Chung Southern throughout ninety minutes but at the end, both sides failed to decisive blow and had to settle for a 2:2 draw.
Kwoon Chung Southern enjoyed a fast start to the game. On the 3rd minute, Dhiego Martins knocked the ball towards the middle. Travis Major soared high and duly headed the ball into the net, putting the visitors in front with an early lead.
On the 10th minute, it was Kwoon Chung Southern once again. This time, Travis Major turned provider and delivered a great cross towards the middle. James Ha darted into the box but one-timed the ball wide.
Lee Man drew level on the 27th minute, after the referee spotted a foul committed by a Kwoon Chung Southern player inside his own box and awarded the home side with a penalty. Lee Man’s Michael N’dri assumed the spot-kick duty and fired the ball home. The score was 1:1.
Lee Man came up with a half-decent chance to take the lead. On the 33rd minute, Martins Givanilton whipped a great cross towards the Kwoon Chung Southern box. Serhii Shapoval leapt high but could not find the target with his effort.
Late in the first-half, Lee Man almost went in front. This time, Serhii Shapoval unleashed a cracking free-kick from the left side towards the Kwoon Chung Southern goal. The shot was acrobatically paved away by Tse Tak-him, before hitting the goal-post and went out of play.
Early in the second-half, Lee Man had a wonderful chance to break the game open, as the Kwoon Chung Southern defense failed to clear away a Lee Man cross. Lee Hong-lim found himself unmarked in the doorstep with the ball but smashed it over the crossbar.
On the 50th minute, the game went through a great turn of events. Kwoon Chung Southern’s James Ha had a great opportunity inside the Lee Man box but saw his close-range drive courageously charged away by Lee Man goalkeeper Yuen Ho-chun.
Immediately on the other end, Lee Man’s Martins Givanilton led a counter-attack on the left-wing, motored into the box before rounding Kwoon Chung Southern goalkeeper Tse Tak-him and finding the back of the net. It was now 2:1 for the home side.
Lee Man came up with another scoring chance on the 73rd minute, as Jonatan Acosta’s lovely forward pass found teammate Michael N’dri inside the Kwoon Chung Southern box. N’dri pulled the trigger but saw his effort saved by Tse Tak-him, before hitting the goal-post and staying out of the net.
It was still Lee Man late in the game. On the 86th minute, veteran Jorge Tarres unloaded from the right-wing but saw his ferocious shot tipped over the bar by Kwoon Chung Southern goalkeeper Tse Tak-him.
Deep in stoppage time, Kwoon Chung Southern pulled level, as Roberto Fronza kept his composure inside the Lee Man box and coolly fired the ball past goalkeeper Yuen Ho-chun, making it 2:2.
The score stood towards the final whistle, as Lee Man and Kwoon Chung Southern shook hands on an exciting 2:2 draw.
