Kitchee and Lee Man started slowly, with their first real threat coming around the 30th minute when Everton dribbled past several players before his shot was saved by the goalkeeper. A few minutes later, Dantas passed back to Mehmud, giving Lee Man an indirect free kick, which Willian took but missed. The first half ended 0-0.
In the 49th minute, Lee Man broke the deadlock when Everton capitalized on his opportunity on the right, making it 1-0. Kitchee nearly equalized when Beattie crossed to Kendy, whose shot went over the bar. Lee Man added another goal in the 58th minute when Mikael's through ball found Baffoe and he slotted home from the edge of the box to make it 2-0. Kitchee finally equalized in the 63rd minute when Asier Illarramendi headed in a Merquelanz freekick to make it 2-1. Lee Man had a one-on-one chance in the 77th minute, but Riera made a sliding tackle to clear the ball. Lee Man ultimately won 2-1, becoming the League Cup champions.
