In the Jockey Club Womens' Youth Football League (U18), league leaders United Citizen faced off against fifth-placed TSL at the Tsang Tai Uk Recreation Ground. United Citizen ultimately defeated their opponents 1-0, claiming all three points to secure the championship.
Heading into this match, United Citizen only needed a victory to edge out second-placed HKFC and be crowned champions. They dominated the game right from the kick-off, relentlessly applying pressure and creating consecutive threats. LIU SIN HUEN SHELBY was highly active, constantly initiating attacks. In the 9th minute, LIU SIN HUEN SHELBY fired a shot from the left side of the penalty area, but it was safely collected by the goalkeeper. She and HIU YUET launched a pincer attack from the left and right flanks respectively, yet failed to breach the defense led by TSL captain HO CHIT.
WAN TSZ YAU also repeatedly dribbled into the box through the left and center, causing continuous scares for the opponents' defense. Although TSL's KWOK SIN TUNG actively orchestrated counterattacks, her teammates lacked a clinical finish in the penalty area. Both sides exchanged attacking moves but struggled to break the deadlock.
The breakthrough finally came in the 30th minute. WAN TSZ YAU once again made a driving run down the left flank into the penalty box. Following her cross, CHONG CHING LAM JAYLYNN slotted the ball home during a goalmouth scramble, giving United Citizen a 1-0 lead. Just before half-time, an energetic WAN TSZ YAU dribbled to the edge of the box and unleashed a shot, which was firmly caught by the opposing keeper. United Citizen carried their 1-0 lead into the break.
2nd half, TSL steadied the ship following some tactical adjustments and actively built up attacks. However, United Citizen tightened their defense, making it difficult for TSL to penetrate the penalty area, leaving them unable to find an equalizer. Conversely, the in-form CHONG CHING LAM JAYLYNN continued to press forward, making a solo run into the box before taking a shot that was parried away by the goalkeeper.
In the closing stages, United Citizen grew in confidence after mounting several threatening goalmouth actions; they earned plenty of corner kicks but could not extend their lead. Ultimately, United Citizen held onto their 1-0 advantage until the final whistle, triumphantly clinching this season's Women's U18 championship.
