In the 8th minute, Rangers' Ibrahim threw the ball into the penalty area, and Cortes' close-range shot went just wide. Twelve minutes later, Max Poon took a freekick, and Mikael's follow-up shot was saved by goalkeeper Yip Ka Yu. In the 25th minute, Gigari headed in from Everton's corner, and Rangers defender Lau Yin Hong's clearance resulted in an own goal, giving Lee Man a 2-0 lead. In the 40th minute, Cortes broke through and fired a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area into the far post, making it 1-2 at halftime.
In the 72nd minute, Everton's shot was saved by Yip Ka Ku, and Noah immediately crossed the ball, which Mikael headed in to make it 3-1. Late in the game, Dudu handled the ball in the penalty area, and the referee pointed to the penalty spot, where Lau Chi Lok scored in the 88th minute to narrow the gap. In stoppage time, Cheng Tsz Sum powerful shot from the left wing leveled the score at 3-3, sending the game into extra time.
The two teams played for 120 minutes without a winner, so a penalty shootout was decided. Rangers scored all three of their penalties, while Lee Man missed several shots from Dudu, Mikael, and Lau Ka Kiu. Rangers won 3-1 on penalties and advanced to the semifinals.
