On Saturday (November 15), Tai Po booked their place in the League Cup semi-finals with a commanding 3:0 victory over HKFC at Mong Kok Stadium.
Tai Po dominated from the opening whistle and broke the deadlock in the 15th minute. Lee Ka Ho unleashed a strike from distance that took a deflection, falling kindly to Patrick Peral, who made no mistake with a clinical left-footed finish into the bottom corner.
Tai Po continued to threaten on 25 minutes when James Temelkovski dispossessed his marker high up the pitch and delivered a dangerous cross from the left flank, though Lucas Da Silva's header sailed narrowly over the crossbar.
Tai Po doubled their advantage just before the interval. Patrick Peral's corner kick found Paulo Simionato at the near post, and the striker powered a header past the keeper to make it 2:0.
Tai Po took their two-goal cushion into the break.
HKFC emerged with more intent after the restart. On 53 minutes, Jesus Salazar whipped in a free kick from the right channel, but Felix Perez-Doyle couldn't keep his header on target.
Tai Po remained in control of proceedings. James Temelkovski's delivery from the left caused havoc in the box, with Wong Hin Sum's effort from close range being kept out by the goalkeeper.
The tie was put beyond doubt in the 67th minute. Patrick Peral swung in a corner from the right, Paulo Simionato got a crucial touch, and Felix Perez-Dyle could only divert the ball into his own net under pressure.
Tai Po nearly added a fourth when James Temelkovski stepped up to take a free kick from the edge of the area, but his effort flashed just wide of the upright.
The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive 3:0 triumph for Tai Po, securing their progression to the last four of the competition.
