On Sunday (October 19), the BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League clash at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground ended in a thrilling 2:2 stalemate between Kowloon City and Golik North District, with both sides sharing the spoils.
Golik North District threatened early, with Yilber Arboleda's 12th-minute free kick blazing over the bar.
Kowloon City responded in the 17th minute when Loong Tsz Hin's delivery from the left found Kayron Ramos, whose header was safely gathered by the keeper.
The deadlock was broken just a minute later as Park Mingyu latched onto Luiz Humberto's through ball and unleashed a left-footed strike from the edge of the area that cannoned off the underside of the crossbar and into the net for the opener.
Golik North District hit back with sustained pressure, Vinicius driving down the left channel before his near-post effort was kept out by the shot-stopper, while Yilber Arboleda's speculative drive also proved no trouble for the goalkeeper. Drama unfolded before the interval when Carlos Andres was shown a straight red card following a VAR review for a reckless challenge on Park Mingyu from behind, reducing Golik North District to ten men.
Kowloon City took a slender 1:0 advantage into the break.
Golik North District's woes deepened eight minutes after the restart when Luiz Humberto's outswinging corner was met by Kessi Isac, who powered his header past the keeper to double the lead.
But the visitors refused to lie down and produced a spirited fightback despite their numerical disadvantage, initially through Yilber Arboleda whose ambitious long-range effort was comfortably held. The comeback gained momentum in the 63rd minute when Weverton Guilherme's thunderous drive from distance was spilled by the goalkeeper, allowing Samuel Salustiano to pounce on the loose ball and calmly slot home to halve the deficit.
The drama reached its crescendo in added time as Golik North District snatched a dramatic equalizer, Wong Chun Ho's pinpoint cross finding the completely unmarked Yilber Arboleda who buried his chance from close range.
The final whistle confirmed a pulsating 2:2 draw, leaving both teams with a point apiece.
