HK U23 met up with Eastern in Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground on Sunday afternoon for the 2023-24 Boc Life Hong Kong Premier League clash. Eastern beat HK U23 by 6:0.
Despite the adverse weather conditions and torrential downpour on match day, Eastern remained undeterred, launching a fierce offensive from the get-go. They drew first blood within the first 3 minutes, when a brilliant cross from the right flank by Calum Hall found Wong Tsz Ho at the far post, who executed a perfect header to give Eastern a 1:0 lead.
The lead did nothing to slow Eastern's momentum. A handball offence committed by Lai Hoi To in the penalty box led to a penalty kick after a VAR review. Baffoe Noah stepped up, delivering a powerful shot to double their advantage to 2:0.
By the 41st minute, Baffoe Noah was at it again, adding another goal to his tally. After a long pass from Leung Kwan Chung, Baffoe Noah masterfully controlled the ball with his chest before firing in a left-footed shot, propelling Eastern to a comfortable 3:0 lead.
Before the half-time whistle, Eastern further widened the gap. A cross from Yu Joy Yin Jesse on the right led to a chaos in front of the goal, which Daniel Vera capitalized on with a low right-footed strike. Eastern went into the break with a commanding 4:0 lead.
The second half saw Eastern maintaining their dominance. An initial attempt from Ma Hei Wai hit the post, but at the 65th minute mark, Leung Kwan Chung's cross from the left found Baffoe Noah, who effortlessly completed his hat-trick with a header, extending Eastern's lead to a formidable 5:0.
HK U23 did manage to create a scoring opportunity afterwards when Ho Ka Chi retrieved the ball from midfield and drove down the right flank before passing to Lam Hok Hei in the box. Unfortunately, the latter's shot lacked the necessary power and was easily collected by the goalkeeper.
In the 79th minute, Eastern found the back of the net once again. A solid teamwork between Calum Hall and Yu Yang Bosley on the right flank culminated in a cross that found Baffoe Noah, who was in sensational form and headed in his fourth goal of the match.
When the final whistle blew, Eastern emerged triumphant with a 6:0 rout of HK U23, securing all three points from the encounter.
