KC Southern met up with Tai Po in Aberdeen Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon for the JC Sapling Cup Group A fixture. KC Southern beat Tai Po by 3:1.
In a thrilling encounter of the JC Sapling Cup Group A, Kwoon Chung Southern emerged victorious with a 3:1 win over Tai Po at Aberdeen Sports Ground, securing a valuable three points.
Right from the start, Kwoon Chung Southern took the initiative as they pressed forward. In the 8th minute, Chen Hoi Pak Paco delivered a precise free kick, Dos Santos Kessi Isac collected the loose ball at edge of the box and pulled the trigger,only to be saved by the goalkeeper.
However, just three minutes later, Kwoon Chung Southern managed to break the deadlock. Chen Hoi Pak Paco whipped in a cross from the left flank, and Jackson Franklim capitalized on the defensive confusion, pouncing on the loose ball after it ricocheted off Marcos Santos. He made no mistake with the finish, slotting it home to give Kwoon Chung Southern a well-deserved 1:0 lead.
Tai Po had their chances to equalize as well. Gerson connected with a teammate's corner kick from the right, but his headed effort lacked the necessary power and was comfortably gathered by the goalkeeper.
Both teams displayed attacking intent in the first half, with Kwoon Chung Southern coming close to doubling their advantage in the 33rd minute. Chen Hoi Pak Paco's teasing cross from the left evaded everyone and cannoned off the woodwork, with Jackson Franklim's follow-up shot denied by a reflex save from Marcos Santos, who bravely protected his goal.
Tai Po had a golden opportunity of their own in the 36th minute. Luiz Humbertoi's curling free kick from the right found Marcos Santos lurking at the far post, but his powerful header was expertly blocked by defender. Kwoon Chung Southern held on to their slender 1:0 lead going into halftime.
The second half saw Kwoon Chung Southern continue to dominate proceedings. Ichikawa Sohgo latched onto a precise pass from Keith and burst into the penalty area, causing havoc in the Tai Po defense. Amidst the chaos, Sasaki Shu found himself in the right place at the right time and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner, extending Kwoon Chung Southern's lead to 2:0.
In the 64th minute, Tai Po finally found a breakthrough. Luiz Humberto's well-delivered corner kick from the right was met with a towering header from the aerially-gifted Gabriel Roberto, who directed the ball into the back of the net, reducing the deficit to 1:2.
However, Kwoon Chung Southern extinguished any hopes of a comeback from Tai Po in the 73rd minute. Sasaki Shu played a precise pass from the right into the crowded penalty area, where Chan Yun Tung arrived with perfect timing to powerfully slot the ball past the goalkeeper, restoring Kwoon Chung Southern's two-goal advantage at 3:1.
In the end, Kwoon Chung Southern emerged as deserving winners, securing all three points with a 3:1 victory over Tai Po.
