The Football Association of Hong Kong, China is delighted to announce that Mr. Jörn ANDERSEN, Head Coach of the Hong Kong Representative Team, has signed a two-year contract renewal.

Mr. Andersen was first appointed as the Head Coach on December 13, 2021. With his rich experience as a player and a coach, he introduced a high-pressing and more aggressive style of playing into the Hong Kong Team. Overcoming the obstacles brought by the COVID-19 epidemic, he successfully led our team to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ in more than 50 years.

Speaking on his contract renewal, Mr. Andersen said, “I see improvement in the Hong Kong Representative Team over the past year and a half which shows that we are on the right track. I hope to build up a good team for the AFC Asian Cup Finals and also achieve good results in the upcoming new round of FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup qualifications. We have a lot of interesting tasks ahead and I have confident that the team will do well.”

Mr. Andersen also called on fans to continue to support the Hong Kong Team. He said, “We will still try to play offensive football and be determined to win each match. We hope fans would be entertained and proud of the team. Fans are always the strongest support we can rely on.”
