Hong Kong U17 Representative Team took on Laos U17 National Team on Friday afternoon in Dolen Omurzakov Stadium, Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic for an AFC U17 Asian Cup Bahrain 2023 Qualifiers Group I fixture. Hong Kong was handed a humbling 0:5 defeat on the hands of Laos.

Hong Kong U17 Representative Team took on Laos U17 National Team on Friday afternoon in Dolen Omurzakov Stadium, Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic for an AFC U17 Asian Cup Bahrain 2023 Qualifiers Group I fixture. Hong Kong was handed a humbling 0:5 defeat on the hands of Laos.

Early in the game, Hong Kong had a decent chance to break the game open, yet Yeung Tung-ki's long range shot lacked the required power to trouble the Laos goalkeeper.

On the 16th minute, a defensive error by a Hong Kong defender saw Songka Liyasak flew down the right wing with the ball. Liyasak capitalized on the situation and whipped in a dangerous cross to the middle, Sayfon Keohanam pulled the trigger and smashed the ball home. Laos was up 1:0.

Afterwards, Chan Shing-chun and Wesley Chan both tried their luck with shots towards the Laos goal but came up empty handed.

On the 24th minute, Laos' Songkan Liyasak broke through down the right side once again, then cut towards the middle and fired away, only to be stopped by Hong Kong goalkeeper Poon Sheung-hei.

On the half hour mark, Laos duly made it 2:0. Khammanh Thapaseut connected with a teammate's corner-kick delivery and nodded the ball home, doubling Laos' lead in the process.

Later on, Khammanh Thapaseut almost added an identical goal, yet this time, his header was tipped over the crossbar by Poon Sheung-hei in the Hong Kong net.

The first half wrapped up with Hong Kong down by two goals.

The second half resumed and Laos quickly added to its lead.

On the 48th minute, Sayfon Keonhanam found himself on the receiving end of a teammate's forward pass, then showed great composure by finishing it off through a clinical strike. It was now 3:0 with Laos in front.

On the 74th minute, Peteer Phanthavong capped off a Laos counter-attack and fired the ball home from inside the box. Laos was now leading 4:0.

Moments later, Peteer Phanthavong once again found the back of the net from inside the Hong Kong penalty area. Laos was pulling away with a 5:0 lead.

Late in the game, Hong Kong tried to break the goose-egg, yet Chan Shing-chun's strike was stopped by the Laos goalkeeper. Cheung Pak-hin went for the rebound but saw his effort blocked away by a Laos player.

At the end, Hong Kong U17 Representative Team was handed a humbling 0:5 defeat by Laos U17 National Team.
