Eastern District emerged victorious in the Jockey Club Futsal League - FA Cup third-place match, played on Sunday (23rd June) at Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre. They outplayed their rivals, RCFC, finishing with a resounding 3:0 win.
Eastern District set the pace early in the game, scoring a brilliant goal just three minutes into the match. After a spectacular one-two combination by Tsang Tsz Hin and Lee Ho Wo, a thunderous right-footed strike from Tsang Tsz Hin found the back of the net, putting Eastern District ahead with a 1:0 lead.
Seizing the momentum, Eastern District continued to dominate the pitch. Numerous attempts were made at RCFC's goal, with Chan Man Yan's tight-angle shot and Kwok Ho Lam's powerful strike both narrowly missing the mark.
RCFC responded with a surge of attacks at the 10-minute mark, with Wong Ting Hin's shot after cutting inside from the left being expertly saved by Eastern District's goalkeeper, Ng Tsz Hin.
As the match continued, both teams created several scoring opportunities. But it was Eastern District that managed to capitalize on their chances before the first half ended. A spectacular cross from Pang Kit Wang found Ng Tsun Ting unmarked at the far post, who easily slotted it home, doubling Eastern District's lead to 2:0 at halftime.
In the second half, Eastern District maintained their pressure, Chow Ka Wa picked up a long ball and then crossed it towards the goal mouth, only to see Lee Ho Wo’s effort bouncing off the post. RCFC fought back with Lam Fung’s close-range effort being blocked after connecting with Leung Wai Yuen's cross.
Eastern District, controlling the rhythm of the game, continued to mount threatening attacks. Notably, Pang Lam Wei's powerful shot from a tight angle after a sublime pass from Chan Man Yan was thwarted by the goalkeeper, as was Tsang Tsz Lai's one-on-one effort.
At the 33rd minute, Eastern District finally added another goal to their tally. After Tsang Tsz Hin managed to shake off his marker and pass to the far post, Pang Lam Wei easily tapped it in, bringing the score to a commanding 3:0.
Despite Eastern District's continued offensive pressure, with both Ng Tsun Ting's long-range effort and Pang Lam Wei's close-range shot being saved, RCFC did not capitulate. They kept their fighting spirit alive until the final whistle, with Leung Wai Yuen’s shot hitting the post in the closing moments of the match.
In the end, Eastern District reigned supreme with a 3:0 triumph over RCFC, clinching the third place in the Jockey Club Futsal League - FA Cup.
