United Citizen clinched third place in the Jockey Club Women’s Youth Football League (U15) FA Cup on Sunday (June 7), beating HKFC 4–1 at the Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre, with CHENG SIU YING firing a decisive brace.

HKFC made the early running and went close through HEARAUDE APOLLINE ROSE MARIE, whose tight-angle effort was saved by WONG CHUNG YAN ABBY before VETTORETTI ASIA saw the rebound blocked. HEARAUDE APOLLINE ROSE MARIE then rattled the crossbar with a swerving left-foot strike from distance as United Citizen struggled to settle. United Citizen responded and began to find a foothold. YUNG JADA was denied in a one-on-one by rushing goalkeeper CASTELLUCCI ALICE MARIA, and after LIU SIN HUEN SHELBY’s low delivery from the left, YUNG JADA’s attempt was saved with YEUNG CHING CHI MAVIS unable to steer the follow-up on target. The breakthrough arrived on 31 minutes: LIU SIN HUEN SHELBY slid a perfectly weighted through ball into the channel and CHENG SIU YING raced clear before finishing with composure to put United Citizen 1–0 up. United Citizen almost doubled the lead before half-time when LIU SIN HUEN SHELBY unleashed a drive from the edge of the area that again struck the bar, but they went into the interval a goal to the good.

HKFC came out with renewed intent after the restart and were inches away from levelling when SASAKI ANNE won possession high up the pitch and hit a long-range effort that the goalkeeper tipped onto the crossbar. That proved a turning point. In the 45th minute, LIU SIN HUEN SHELBY swung in a corner from the left and YUNG JADA powered a near-post header home for 2–0, before CHENG SIU YING struck again two minutes later, wriggling free in the box and drilling a right-foot finish to make it 3–0. United Citizen kept the pressure on, with CHAU TSZ YUET shooting over from close range, and the fourth goal arrived on 62 minutes as LIU SIN HUEN SHELBY cut in from the edge of the area and rifled an unstoppable right-foot strike into the top corner.

HKFC grabbed a consolation three minutes later when WANG WENTING latched onto a long ball and coolly slotted home, but United Citizen held firm to seal a 4–1 win and the third-place prize.
