Kitchee met up with RCFC in Mongkok Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the JC Sapling Cup Group B fixture of the weekend. Kitchee beat RCFC by 6:2.
Kitchee clashed with RCFC in an exhilarating goal fest in JC Sapling Cup(Group B) at Mong Kok Stadium. Kitchee, inspired by Mikael's remarkable hat-trick, triumphed over RCFC with a commanding 6-2 victory, claiming a well-deserved three points.Kitchee made an assertive start to the game, taking the lead on the 8th minute as Junior Walter skillfully danced through three RCFC defenders after receiving a throw-in. With composure, he slotted the ball into the far post, giving Kitchee a 1-0 lead. On the 31st minute, Junior Walter delivered a precise low cross from the left flank, and an unmarked Mikael capitalized on the chance, smashing the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
Kitchee still maintained their dominant performance after leading by two goals. On the 40th minute, Ruslan Mingazov was fouled by Lui Cheuk Kan inside the box,resulting in a penalty kick. Mikael confidently converted the shot, putting Kitchee ahead 3-0. Just a minute later, Kitchee further extended their lead. Walter Junior, who had been impressively active throughout the game, delivered a precise cross to the center, allowing Mikael to score his third goal of the match, completing a remarkable hat-trick and bringing the score to 4-0. As the first half approached its end, Charlie Scott took a corner kick, and although Mikael's powerful header was denied by the goalkeeper, Tan Chun Lok was quick to react and found the back of the net. At halftime, Kitchee were commanding the game with a 5-0 lead.
RCFC launched a spirited comeback after the opening whistle of the second half. On the 62nd minute, Yuen Sai Kit's attempt was denied by the goalkeeper, but Lui Cheuk Kan was the first to the loose ball and blasted it into the top corner,reducing the deficit for RCFC. Just two minutes later, Moon Chi Sung showcased his skills on the left flank, shaking off his markers and delivering a precise pass to the center. Ki Sze Ho was at the right place at the right time, crashing the ball into the net, bringing RCFC closer with a score of 2-5. On the 74th minute, Kitchee's Kim Shinwook received a pass inside the penalty area and was fouled.However, to his disappointment, his spot-kick struck crossbar and bounced out.
On the 87th minute, Kitchee found the back of the net once again. Yuen Chun Him released Jantscher Jakob with a lovely pass,the latter calmly slotted the ball past the advancing goalkeeper into an unguarded net, sealing a resounding 6-2 triumph for Kitchee and securing all three points.
