The action kicked off six minutes in, with Nicholas Medeiros making his mark on the match. Receiving a precise pass from Chang Kwong Yin, he sped past defenders into the penalty box and drove the ball into the far post, giving Sham Shui Po an early 1:0 lead.
BC Rangers rattled from the get-go, found themselves in deeper trouble when Nicholas Medeiros struck again at the 21-minute mark. A stellar assist from Dunga set Nicholas Medeiros up for a powerful strike into the net, doubling Sham Shui Po's advantage to 2:0.
BC Rangers rallied, managing to find some footing and launched a series of attacks. Yakabu Ibrahim ‘s cross from right flank found Kamigata Yosuke at the far post, but the latter’s effort from close range was blocked by Sham Shui Po's vigilant goalkeeper, Leung Hing Kit.
BC Rangers, however, managed to claw one back from a corner kick situation. Kanda Yumemi's corner from the left found an unmarked Yakabu Ibrahim, who headed it home to put the score at 2:1 going into halftime, with Sham Shui Po still in the lead.
As the second half unfolded, BC Rangers redoubled their efforts to find an equalizer. Despite attempts by Lau Chi Lok, Kamigata Yosuke, and Yakabu Ibrahim, Leung Hing Kit's goalkeeping prowess kept them at bay.
In the 59th minute, Remi Dujardin's header from Kanda Yumemi's corner only found the side netting, denying BC Rangers a much-needed equalizer.
The nail in the coffin for BC Rangers came in the 80th minute when Nicholas Medeiros completed his hat-trick. A well-timed pass from Dunga found Ngan Cheuk Pan who, facing the goalkeeper, cleverly laid off the ball to an unmarked Nicholas Medeiros. He made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball into the net and securing Sham Shui Po's lead at 3:1.
When the final whistle blew, Sham Shui Po had successfully defended their lead, defeating BC Rangers 3:1 and clinching their first league triumph of the season.
