In a thrilling encounter at the Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre Pitch No.4 on Saturday (May 4), HKFC clinched third place with a commanding 3:1 victory over MLFA in the Jockey Club Women's Youth Football League (U15).

HKFC drew first blood within 120 seconds of kickoff, as the clinical CHUA SOPHIA latched onto a defense-splitting through ball before unleashing an unstoppable right-footed drive that proved too hot to handle for goalkeeper DANIELLE PONG, despite getting fingertips to the effort. MLFA nearly responded moments later when AMELIA HEMI RANDALL found themselves clean through on goal, but goalkeeper GREEN FRIDA RUBY produced a vital save to maintain the advantage. HKFC doubled their cushion in the 26th minute through a well-worked move. CHUA SOPHIA delivered an inch-perfect cross from the right flank, finding CHENG REINA MING YEE unmarked, who showed composure to round the keeper before slotting into the unguarded net. MLFA showed tremendous fighting spirit, with the dangerous OLIVIA LANEY BANNON twice testing their luck from a distance, both efforts whistling just wide of the upright. Their persistence was rewarded five minutes before the interval when OLIVIA LANEY BANNON capitalized on a defensive mix-up, displaying remarkable composure to guide the ball home with their left foot from inside the area. The sides headed into the halftime with HKFC holding a slender 2:1 advantage.

After the restart, CHUA SOPHIA nearly extended the lead, embarking on a mazy run down the right channel in the 51st minute, leaving two defenders in their wake before being denied by an alert goalkeeping intervention. The end-to-end action continued as OLIVIA LANEY BANNON showcased their individual brilliance, cutting inside before unleashing a venomous strike that GREEN FRIDA RUBY did well to parry, with NAOMI MAYA LAM's follow-up effort sailing agonizingly off target. MLFA continued to probe, with the effervescent OLIVIA LANEY BANNON dancing past two challenges inside the box on the hour mark, only to be thwarted by GREEN FRIDA RUBY's exceptional positioning.

The decisive moment came in the 62nd minute when HKFC orchestrated a sublime team move. CHENG REINA MING YEE carved inside from the left before teeing up CHUA SOPHIA, who thundered an unstoppable long-range missile into the top corner, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot. Despite being two goals adrift, MLFA refused to throw in the towel. OLIVIA LANEY BANNON almost pulled one back with a rasping drive from range that forced a fingertip save over the crossbar, before seeing their set-piece effort in the dying moments safely gathered by the assured GREEN FRIDA RUBY.

At the final whistle, HKFC emerged victorious with a well-deserved 3:1 triumph, securing the third position in this season's campaign.
