United Citizen wrapped up third place in the Jockey Club Women’s Youth Football League (U18) FA Cup with an emphatic 8-0 win over MLFA on Tuesday (12 May) at Tsing Yi Northeast Park.

United Citizen needed just seven minutes to break the deadlock as CHAU TSZ YUET latched onto a through ball, skipped past a defender and lofted a tight-angle finish into the far corner. MLFA threatened in response, with COHEN RILEY NAIA flashing a strike wide from distance before BANNON OLIVIA LANEY’s turn and effort inside the area was comfortably held by the goalkeeper.

The pressure continued to build as United Citizen dictated the tempo and created a string of openings. LEUNG CHING TUNG forced a close-range save after meeting CHENG SIU YING’s pass, while CHENG SIU YING squandered a one-on-one after being slipped in by CHONG CHING LAM JAYLYNN. The interval arrived with United Citizen still only 1-0 ahead.

United Citizen turned the screw after the restart. Two minutes into the second half, CHAU TSZ YUET delivered from the right and CHONG CHING LAM JAYLYNN rose unmarked to head home for 2-0. Eight minutes later, LIU SIN HUEN SHELBY’s free-kick took a deflection and found the net to make it 3-0.

The floodgates opened as United Citizen kept coming. On 67 minutes, POON YAN WING squared across goal and YEUNG CHING CHI MAVIS finished from close range for 4-0. Although POON YAN WING failed to convert a penalty soon after, United Citizen quickly regained momentum when CHENG SIU YING curled a right-footed effort into the far corner for 5-0.

United Citizen struck again from the spot on 76 minutes, with YAU TSZ CHING powering home to extend the lead. Late goals from CHENG SIU YING on the break and CHONG CHING LAM JAYLYNN from close range completed the rout as United Citizen sealed an 8-0 victory to clinch third place.
