In the Jockey Club Women’s Football League (Challenge Group) fixture held on Saturday night (9th) at Tsing Yi Northeast Park, Jianlibao (HK) secured all three points with a narrow 1-0 victory over Tuen Mun, courtesy of a late second-half strike from LAM WING TUNG.

Jianlibao started the match with intent, creating several early scoring opportunities. In the 8th minute, WONG KA SZE broke through on the right flank and entered the box, but her effort sailed over the crossbar. Two minutes later, CHIU LING KWAN received the ball at the edge of the area on the right and unleashed a snapshot, which was safely gathered by the Tuen Mun goalkeeper. Jianlibao continued to pile on the pressure as WONG KA SZE spearheaded another attack, latched onto a long ball down the left, and fired toward the far post, only to see it cleared by the defense. In the 20th minute, WONG TSZ YING connected with a corner, but the resulting shot went high.

Tuen Mun responded a minute later when NG SUI YIN VENUS threaded a through ball down the middle to YUEN SUM YI SUMMIE, whose strike was comfortably smothered by the keeper.

A midfield battle ensued as both sides struggled to break the deadlock. Tuen Mun began to look more threatening toward the end of the half, missing a golden opportunity to open the scoring from a corner in the 37th minute. In the 44th minute, SO PO YU saw her close-range effort denied by the Jianlibao keeper, who positioned herself well to make the block. The teams headed into the interval scoreless.

Tuen Mun emerged for the second half with increased aggression, successfully pinning Jianlibao back and testing the goalkeeper with a succession of corners. KWOK MAN SUM ABBY nearly capitalized after intercepting the ball and firing a quick shot that whistled just wide of the post. In the 76th minute, Jianlibao’s WONG KA SZE received a pass inside the box and aimed for the far corner with her right foot, but the keeper produced a fine save. Two minutes later, Tuen Mun earned a free kick followed by a corner, yet they remained unable to find the finishing touch.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 82nd minute. YU JOYCE CAROLYN, having come on as a substitute, surged down the right wing and delivered a precise cross to an unmarked LAM WING TUNG, who clinicaly turned the ball into the net on the half-volley. Despite a flurry of attempts from both sides in the closing stages, neither team managed to create further clear-cut chances. Jianlibao held firm to protect their 1-0 lead until the final whistle, securing a hard-fought three points.
