Organised by The Football Association of Hong Kong, China (HKFA), and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust as its Major Partner, with additional support from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the “Jockey Club Youth Football Development Programme – Summer Scheme 2025” is now officially launched. The programme aims to encourage children and teenagers across Hong Kong to actively participate in football during the summer break, cultivating their passion for the sport through structured training and hands-on experience while nurturing future local talent.
Taking place from July to August, this year’s programme will provide football training for approximately 10,000 local youngsters aged 3 to 15, offering four practical training sessions and two days of mini-competitions to enhance their skills and immerse them in the excitement of the game. This year’s programme has been further enhanced with new initiatives to cater to different age groups and skill levels:
- Siblings Classes & Goalkeeping Classes – Increased class availability to accommodate growing demand and provide more children with the opportunity to participate.
- Parent-Child Classes – Returning due to its popularity last year, with an additional focus on Mother-Child Classes to encourage family bonding through football.
- Street Challenge Match – Newly introduced for teenagers aged 12 – 15, providing an exciting opportunity to refine skills, enjoy competitive play, and forge friendships on the pitch.
Mr. John Morling, HKFA Technical Director, said: “The Summer Scheme, generously funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, is one of the key initiatives in local football development and an event eagerly anticipated by many families each year. We extend our gratitude once again to The Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department for their unwavering support. We hope all participants have a fulfilling summer holiday, experiencing the excitement of football through training and match opportunities while deepening their understanding and passion for the football. ”
