Playing on their home turf, Kwoon Chung Southern set the tone early on, with Merkies Raphael narrowly missing a shot on goal at the 5-minute mark after an impressive midfield breakthrough.
The 13th minute saw BC Rangers surge forward, with Kanda Yumemi launching a direct free kick that sadly failed to find the target. BC Rangers sustained their offensive, with Lau Chi Lok's shot on goal, following a left-wing cross from Okamoto Akito, being thwarted by the goalkeeper.
Kwoon Chung Southern launched a counter-attack in the 33rd minute, but Merkies Raphael's shot from the left flank was marginally over the bar.
During the closing stages of the first half, BC Rangers crafted numerous goal-scoring opportunities. Kamigata Yosuke's low-powered shot, following a pass from Au Yeung Yiu Chung, was easily gathered by the keeper.
In the 43rd minute, BC Rangers squandered a golden opportunity as Kamigata Yosuke's shot inside the penalty area deflected off a defender, only for Lau Chi Lok's subsequent shot to be spectacularly saved by the diving goalkeeper. The first half concluded in a goalless stalemate.
The second half saw the momentum swing towards Kwoon Chung Southern. Chen Ngo Hin's towering header in the 47th minute soared over the bar, while his fierce strike from outside the penalty box was denied by the keeper later on.
At the hour mark, Kwoon Chung Southern continued their relentless assault, with a stinging left-footed strike from Sasaki Shu striking the post after a clever pass from Ichikawa Sohgo.
BC Rangers received a major setback in the 78th minute when Lo Kwan Yee was shown a second yellow, reducing them to 10 men.
Kwoon Chung Southern then capitalized on their numerical advantage, peppering BC Rangers’ goal with shots, including one from Dos Santos Kessi Isac, which was saved by the keeper after a corner kick from Chan Hoi Pak Paco.
The deadlock was finally broken during added time. Chan Yiu Cho Joe was shown a red card for a handball violation inside the penalty box, which also resulted in a penalty. Stefan Pereira coolly stepped up to the spot and dispatched the penalty, securing the win for Kwoon Chung Southern.
The final whistle saw Kwoon Chung Southern emerge victorious over a 9-man BC Rangers with a 1:0 win, clinching all three points.
