Eastern hosted against BC Rangers at home in Mong Kok Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League clash. Eastern got a 2:1 victory over BC Rangers.
The game started at a slow tempo, with both teams struggling to generate significant goal-scoring opportunities. In the 11th minute, Wong Ho Chun delivered a free kick from the left flank into the penalty area, but Baffoe Donkor Noah's header soared over the crossbar.
Later, Ibrahim cut inside from the left and attempted a powerful shot from a tight angle, but narrowly missed the target.
Just before halftime, Eastern finally broke the deadlock. Marcos Gondra stepped up to take a free kick from the top of the penalty area and unleashed a left-footed strike. The goalkeeper managed to get a touch, but the ball found its way into the net, giving Eastern a 1:0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, BC Rangers launched a spirited comeback. In the 49th minute, Lo Kwan Yee delivered a lovely pass into the penalty area, and Ibrahim's close-range shot was denied by a remarkable diving save from the goalkeeper.
In the 56th minute, Kanda Yumemi swung in a corner kick from the right side. The Eastern defense attempted to clear the ball, but it fell to the feet of Ibrahim, who quickly passed it towards the far post. Lau Chi Lok rose highest to meet the ball with a powerful header that struck the underside of the crossbar and bounced into the net, equalizing the scoreline to 1:1 for BC Rangers.
Despite facing mounting pressure in the second half, Eastern managed to regain the lead in the 86th minute. Leung Kwun Chung received a well-placed pass from Wong Ho Chun and delivered a precise cross from the left flank. Marcos Gondra beat Yao Ho Ming in the air and directed a forceful header into the back of the net, completing his brace and restoring Eastern's lead to 2:1.
In the dying moments of the match, Eastern had another golden opportunity to extend their advantage. ,Leung Chun Pong unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box, only to see the ball land at the feet of Baffoe Donkor Noah. Reacting swiftly, he pivoted and attempted a shot but the ball ricocheted off the post and stayed out of the net.
With a valiant defensive display, Eastern managed to hold on to their hard-fought 2:1 victory until the final whistle, securing all three points in the league standings.
