In the early stages of the match, Yuen Long District Sports Club generated two solid scoring chances with the unmarked Mo Hiu Ming hitting the post in the 4th minute after picking up a fine pass from a teammate, and Choi Ip Fai shooting high inside the box just a minute later. But it was Kowloon Cricket Club who broke the game open, Chan Ching Hei’s effort was blocked by the goalkeeper after receiving a great pass from teammate, he was then the first one to the loose ball and finished it home, giving a 1:0 led to Kowloon Cricket Club. On the 10th minute, Chan Kim Hung’s cross found Yang Zhang inside the box but the latter’s header just missed the target.
On the 17th minute, Yuen Long District Sports Association finally equalised when Yau Jeff shook off his marker on the right and fired a shot from a tight angle, finding the back of the net. Kowloon Cricket had chances to resume their lead later in the first half, but the attempts from Yang Zhang and De Laiglesia Christopher Toshiya both failed to challenge the goalkeeper.
Kowloon Cricket Club came out aggressively in the second half, hoping to regain the lead. On the 24th minute, De Laiglesia Christopher Toshiya was left unmarked to fire a shot just wide, and a minute later his close-range effort missed the target again. But their efforts were finally rewarded in the 30th minute when Chan Kim Hung fired a freekick into the net to give the team a 2-1 lead.
Yuen Long District Sports Association tried to mount a comeback, but the Kowloon Cricket Club did well to keep his team in front by saving Leung Yiu Man and Mo Hiu Ming’s short-range shot in style. The score stood all the way towards the final whistle, as Kowloon Cricket Club edged Yuen Long District Sports Association by 2:1 and claimed all three points.
