Mutual met up with Eastern District on Monday evening in Sha Tin Racecourse S/G for the Jockey Club Futsal League -Division 1 fixture. Mutual and Eastern District traded goals throughout the game, as a late goal from Choi Kin Lok secured a 3:2 victory for Eastern District over Mutual.

 

Eastern District dominated possession after the opening whistle, while Mutual‘s counter-attack was a constant threat. In the 2nd minute, Mutual goalkeeper Tam Kwan Po set off an amazing run and unleashed a powerful shot, only to see his effort denied by the goalkeeper. In the 6th minute, it was Eastern District’s turn, Luk Cham Hin connected with Tse Ching Mike’s pass in the middle and pulled the trigger but the goalkeeper did well to pave it away. In the 12th minute, Eastern District came close again but Lam Chun Woon couldn’t beat the goalkeeper one-on-one and the rebound shot from Choi Kin Lok was just gone wide.

 

In the 15th minute, the underdog Mutual duly took the lead. The Eastern District goalkeeper bought down an opponent inside the box and conceded a penalty, Tam Kwan Po fired a powerful shot and found the back of the net. Mutual was up at 1:0.

 

However, Eastern District came back strong by scoring two goals one minute late in the first half, Chow Ka Wa sent a fine pass toward the far post from the right flank, and Tse Ching Mike found himself unmarked and nodded the ball home. Just one minute later, it was Tse Ching Mike again who scored his second goal from a counter-attack, giving Eastern District a 2:1 lead after the halftime whistle.

 

Mutual stormed out of the game, hoping to find the equalizer. In the 28th minute, Choi Kin Lok connected with Wong Chun Lam’s pass in the middle and drilled the ball home. The game was now tied at 2:2. Mutual kept the pressure coming afterward, but unfortunately, the rebound shot from Kwong Tsz Hin and the long-range drive from Tang Chun Yin Ivan were both denied by the post. It was Eastern District’s turn in the 35th minute, Lam Chun Woon shook off his markers in the right flank and sent a decent centering pass to the far post, the unmarked Choi Kin Lok fired the ball home, scoring the match-winner for Eastern District.

 

The score stood towards the final whistle, as Eastern District claimed all three points by a 3:2 victory over Mutual.
