Kwoon Chung Southern and HKFC gathered in Mongkok Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a JC Sapling Cup Group A fixture. A first half hat trick by Jean Moser, plus goals from Awal Mahama and Stefan Pereira, pushed Kwoon Chung Southern past HKFC through a commanding 5:1 victory.
Kwoon Chung Southern and HKFC gathered in Mongkok Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a JC Sapling Cup Group A fixture. A first half hat trick by Jean Moser, plus goals from Awal Mahama and Stefan Pereira, pushed Kwoon Chung Southern past HKFC through a commanding 5:1 victory.
Early in the game, Kwoon Chung Southern quickly produced a solid scoring chance. On the 3rd minute, Jean Moser spun-and-fired from the top of the HKFC penalty area but smashed the ball wide off target.
Kwoon Chung Southern came even closer as few minutes later, as youngster Chen Ngo-hin’s strike rung off the HKFC crossbar and stayed out of the net.
On the 14th minute, Kwoon Chung Southern duly took the lead. A slick one-two between Awal Mahama and Stefan Pereira saw the former ripping a powerful strike and found the back of the net. Kwoon Chung Southern was up 1:0.
Kwoon Chung Southern kept the goals coming and doubled its lead a few minutes later. On the 19th minute, Jean Moser connected with an Awal Mahama delivery and fired the ball home, making it 2:0 for Kwoon Chung Southern.
It was Kwoon Chung Southern once again on the 23rd minute, as Jean Moser capitalized on an ineffective clearance from the HKFC defense, then drilled the ball into the back of the net, turning the score to a 3:0 Kwoon Chung Southern lead.
On the 39th minute, Kwoon Chung Southern’s Awal Mahama knocked a teasing cross towards the middle. Jean Moser beat HKFC’s Timothy Chow to the ball and blasted it home. The score was now 4:0 with Kwoon Chung Southern in front, while Jean Moser managed to claim a first half hat trick.
The first half eventually wrapped up with Kwoon Chung Southern establishing a 4:0 lead over HKFC.
Kwoon Chung Southern continued to enjoy the upper hand in the second half. On the 49th minute, Shu Sasaki unloaded from the top of the box but sent the ball over the HKFC crossbar.
On the 56th minute, the district side came close once again. This time, Awal Mahama’s header was splendidly turned away by HKFC goalkeeper Justin Fung.
Kwoon Chung Southern nearly made it 5:0 on the 77th minute, as Stefan Pereira connected with a teammate’s free-kick delivery but headed the ball high. HKFC dodged another bullet on the occasion.
HKFC managed to get on the scoreboard on the 85th minute. Wong Sheung-choi found himself on the receiving end of a Shunsuke Nakamura free-kick, buried his chance and sent the ball home. HKFC was down by three goals at this point.
Late in the game, the referee spotted a HKFC player committing handball in his own penalty area and duly awarded Kwoon Chung Southern a penalty shot. Stefan Pereira took care of the rest and fired the ball into the net. Kwoon Chung Southern was now leading 5:1.
The score stood towards the final whistle, as Kwoon Chung Southern defeated HKFC through a comfortable 5:1 victory.
