Hong Kong U20 Men's Representative Team will take on Vietnam U20 National Team on Wednesday afternoon in Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, Indonesia for its opening fixture in the AFC U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers Group F. Kick-off time for the electrifying clash is set for 16:00 (Indonesia, local time).

Hong Kong stepped up its preparation for the AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers and spent ten days in Thailand for an overseas training camp. The team also took on Thailand U19 National Team in an international friendly match but fell short 0:2 on the occasion. Afterwards, the team flew out to Surabaya, Indonesia a day early than originally planned, and started its final preparation for the qualifiers.

Hong Kong U20 Representative Team head coach Cheung Kin-fung indicates the team has been adapting well since arriving Indonesia and is looking forward to witness his team playing up to its potential against Vietnam.

“We took a long route to Surabaya, Indonesia the other night and immediate set up a training session for adaptation. Everyone seems to be in fairly good shape at the moment,” Cheung offered.

“Vietnam is an agile and speedy side, thus we must be more united in terms of defensive plays, and then try our best to create as many chances as possible up-front.”

Hong Kong U20 Representative Team midfielder Tang In-chim admits Vietnam is a tough foe to face in the first game, yet insists the team will be giving it all against the opponent, hoping to display its full potential.

“We have been preparing feverishly over the past few days and has basically got used to the local weather,” revealed the tricky midfielder.

“The coaching staff have set up several team meetings with the side over the past few days and have been reviewing with us on our past training matches, as well as analyzing Vietnam's strength and weaknesses. I certainly hope we can play up to our potential in the opening game and come up with a positive result.”
