Hong Kong finds itself situated in the AFC U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023 Qualifiers Group F, together with group-host Indonesia, Vietnam and Timor-Leste. In order to prepare for the qualifiers as best as it could, Hong Kong U20 Representative Team set up overseas training camp in Thailand ahead of the competition, hoping to gel as a unit, both on and off the pitch.

Hong Kong Under20 Representative Team head coach Cheung Kin-fung stresses that his troops must seize the opportunity against Thailand and get prepared for the upcoming U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

“Due to pandemic, opportunities to experience international football for this group of players have drastically reduced, which lead to a serious effect on their respective football growth,” Cheung commented.

“However, with the match against Thailand U19 coming right up, we need to forget about that and just do our best. We also need to grab this opportunity to get ourselves ready for the upcoming U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.”

Hong Kong U20 Representative Team midfielder Ellison Tsang indicates the team is gradually rounding into form and is relishing the chance to go up against Thailand on Friday's friendly match.

“We have arrived Thailand for our training camp for almost a week now,” Tsang revealed. “The daily double-training sessions have brought the team's overall form to a very decent level. We have been highly focused over the past week and everyone is looking forward to the game against Thailand.”
