On Sunday (October 19th) at Tsing Yi Sports Ground, BC Rangers and Eastern battled to a 1:1 stalemate in the BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League, sharing the spoils with a point apiece.

BC Rangers threatened early doors when Maxwell Ansah unleashed an audacious long-range effort from the halfway line in the 3rd minute, but his ambitious chip sailed narrowly wide of the target.

The encounter settled into a cagey midfield tussle, with clear-cut chances at a premium for both sides.

BC Rangers carved out another opportunity in the 36th minute as Maxwell Ansah threaded a defense-splitting pass into the box, but Lau Chi Lok could only fire wide from an acute angle with the goal at his mercy.

Eastern responded a minute later when Marcos Gondra slipped a through ball to Okubo Yu, whose snapshot from a tight angle was well saved by the goalkeeper. Marco Lorenz then tried his luck from distance with a thunderous strike that the keeper gathered comfortably.

The sides went into the interval deadlocked at 0:0.

BC Rangers broke the deadlock immediately after the restart, with Ibrahim Yakubu latching onto Maxwell Ansah's raking pass in the 48th minute, shrugging off his marker before coolly slotting home to put his side ahead.

Four minutes later BC Rangers nearly doubled their advantage when Lau Chi Lok whipped in a dangerous cross from the right flank that Eastern failed to deal with, but Matias Panigazzi' free header was brilliantly kept out by a flying save.

Eastern drew level in the 54th minute through a moment of brilliance, as Okubo Yu produced an exquisite backheel to tee up Marcos Gondra, who rifled an unstoppable left-footed effort into the back of the net.

Both teams pressed for a winner with chances flowing at both ends. In the 65th minute, Fung Kwun Ming rattled the woodwork with a venomous drive from range for Rangers. At the other end, Marcos Gondra connected with Martins Givanilton's cross from the left, but Hayashi Ryota was on hand to clear off the line with a goal-saving intervention.

Eastern ramped up the pressure in search of all three points, with Lau Kwan Ching rising to meet a cross from the right only to see his header comfortably claimed, before Marcos Gondra stung the palms of the keeper with another powerful effort.

Deep into stoppage time, BC Rangers launched one final assault as Lau Chi Lok burst into the area and unleashed a fierce drive that was parried away, with Okamoto Akito's follow-up also denied by a spectacular one-handed stop.

When the final whistle blew, Eastern and BC Rangers had to settle for a share of the points after an entertaining 1:1 draw.
