The match began with Eastern creating early opportunities, SIU Ching had a direct free kick from the left side that was expertly saved by the goalkeeper with one hand. Eastern continued to press, and in the 23rd minute, LEUNG Tsz Hin skilfully dribbled past a defender on the left but failed to hit the target with his shot. Lee Man, under pressure, managed to take their first shot in the 29th minute, with LIMBU Jhonattan Gillies attempting a long-range effort that was easily caught by the goalkeeper.
In the 35th minute, HON Shing Wing delivered a cross from the right to law Cheuk Hei, whose close-range shot was saved by goalkeeper Chung Hoi Man. Eastern, dominating the first half, finally broke the deadlock in the 44th minute when LEUNG Tsz Hin was fouled in the penalty area by a Lee Man player. GAO Ming Ho stepped up to take the penalty and scored, giving Eastern a 1:0 lead at halftime.
The second half saw Eastern continue to control the game. In the 52nd minute, YUENG Tung Ki attempted a long-range shot from the left, which missed the target. In the 73rd minute, LEUNG Tsz Hin drove into the center from the left and took a shot in traffic, but again failed to score. Eastern had another opportunity in the 86th minute when SIU Ching crossed from the right, and GAO Ming Ho's header struck the post. Ultimately, Eastern won the match 1-0, advancing to the semi-finals.
After making a crucial save in the first half, Eastern's goalkeeper Chung Hoi Man expressed satisfaction with the team's performance,“Everyone was energetic today, and I didn't make any mistakes. However, towards the end of the match, we might have lost a bit of focus with a one-goal lead. We need to be even more focused in the next match against Kitchee.”
