In a thrilling encounter of the Jockey Club Women's Football League (1st Division) Relegation Group, held at Happy Valley Recreation Ground on Saturday, HKFC demonstrated a stunning performance, overpowering Tai Po with a crushing victory of 6:0, securing all three points.
HKFC wasted no time in establishing their dominance early in the game, with Ma Ching Yi making a swift strike into the unguarded net in the 4th minute, after a deft pass from Benjamin Georgina Lydia, putting HKFC into a 1:0 lead. HKFC continued their offensive onslaught, with Chu Claire Shing Yin delivering a precise corner kick from the right in the 6th minute, and the unmarked Leung Erin making a successful close-range shot that doubled their lead to 2:0. Maintaining a firm grip on the game, HKFC further extended their lead in the 16th minute. A brilliant cross from Leung Erin on the right flank found Benjamin Georgina Lydia, who effortlessly converted it into a goal, catapulting the score to 3:0. Undeterred by their significant lead, HKFC relentlessly attacked. In the 21st minute, Grabner Natasha made a daring run into the penalty box, but her shot was denied by the upright. The rebound shot by Ma Ching Yi also unfortunately sailed over the bar.
Against all odds, in the 37th minute, HKFC once more breached Tai Po's defense. A well-struck corner from Chu Claire Shing Yin on the left saw the ball curl directly into the near post, pushing the scoreline to a commanding 4:0. Three minutes later, HKFC continued their aggressive play. Tai Po's goalkeeper Tsang Chiu Yin Shannon managed a short clearance which found its way to Tang Kei Suet who let loose a powerful shot, only to be punched away by a swift-turning Tsang Chiu Yin Shannon. Just before halftime, HKFC added another to their tally as Blanchard Caitkin Arianna unleashed a stunning long-range shot from 25 yards out, the ball soared into the upper corner, bringing the first half to a close with HKFC leading 5:0.
In the second half, HKFC maintained their dominance. In the 48th minute, Ma Ching Yi took a shot from the edge of the box after receiving a pass from the left, but it narrowly missed the target. At the 53-minute mark, HKFC nearly increased their lead as Chu Claire Shing Yin swiftly responded to a short corner kick, delivering a perfect cross from the right, but Shum Hau Nam Cat's header was denied by the crossbar. Just 8 minutes later, Shum Hau Nam Cat found herself one-on-one with the keeper, but her shot frustratingly struck the post. As the match wore on, HKFC's attacking intensity started to wane, and Tai Po began to shore up their defense, making it increasingly difficult for HKFC to create further goal-scoring opportunities. However, in the 79th minute, HKFC's Kam Karina Ka Wing saw her shot parried by the goalkeeper, and the subsequent rebound shot by Fung Yick Ning Elaine also hit the post. Fortune favoured Shum Hau Nam Cat, as the ball landed at her feet right in front of the goal, and she promptly dispatched it into the net.
The final whistle saw HKFC emerge as the clear victors over Tai Po with a resounding 6:0 triumph, securing all three points from the encounter.
