In an electrifying face-off for the Hong Kong Premier Youth League U14 FA Cup Third-Place Match on Saturday (June 8) was held at Pitch 5 of the Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre. RCFC and Eastern ended the regulation time in a 1-1 draw, and RCFC defeated Eastern 5:4 in the penalty shootout to claim the third place.

RCFC and Eastern ended the regulation time in a 1-1 draw, and RCFC defeated Eastern 5:4 in the penalty shootout to claim the third place.

 

In the first half, Eastern basically controlled the game, and they had an opportunity to score in the 3rd minute, but Wu She Yuen shot from outside was saved by the RCFC goalkeeper. The pressured RCFC found the opening goal in the 9th minute, with Ho Lap Yin long-range shot from outside finding the back of the net to give them a 1:0 lead. Eastern were active in searching for the equalizer while trailing, and their shot in the 38th minute by Fung Kin Cheung just missed the target. RCFC lead 1-0 in the firsthalf.

 

After the break, Eastern increased their attacking intensity in search of the equalizer. In the 55th minute, Liu Sung Him shot inside the yard box missed the target. One minute later, Eastern tried to break through RCFC defense with a long-range shot, but Tsui Tin Long still couldn't find the goal. In the 64th minute, Ho Lap Yin face the goalkeeper and chip shoot but the shot only went out of play. The trailing Eastern finally equalized at 1:1 with a direct free-kick goal from their number 7 player Sasaki Yu.

 

The match ended 1:1 after regulation, leading to a penalty shootout to decide the winner. RCFC only missed one penalty in the six-round shootout, ultimately defeating Eastern 6:5 on aggregate to claim the third place in the Hong Kong Premier Youth League U14 FA Cup.
