In a gripping showdown in the Jockey Club Women's Youth Football League (U15) FA Cup final on Sunday, HKFC triumphed over Lucky Mile with a 3:1 victory at the Jockey Club HKFA Training Centre Pitch No.4, seizing the championship of this year's tournament.
From the opening kickoff, HKFC seized the initiative, with Chang Mcrry Le launching the first notable attack, a long-range effort that was collected by Lucky Mile's goalkeeper Ng Tsz Ling Trinity just two minutes into the game. Despite having less possession, Lucky Mile drew first blood. A dazzling solo run from Ng Mikayla Megan at the third minute saw her dodge three defenders and calmly slot the ball into the far post, putting Lucky Mile in the lead with a 1:0 scoreline. Stung into action, HKFC quickly ramped up their offensive pressure. A minute later, Bolchover Isadora Marnie Pyman found herself on the receiving end of a pinpoint pass from a teammate and attempted a shot, but her effort narrowly missed the mark. The breakthrough for HKFC came in the 8th minute when Chandler Anna Rose Ming-Yeh, after a clever assist from a teammate, unleashed a powerful drive from a tight angle. The ball flew unerringly into the far corner, bringing the score level at 1:1.
Lucky Mile responded almost immediately. Cheng Reina Ming Yee capitalized on the goalkeeper's unsuccessful clearance, firing a shot at the empty net, but was denied by the woodwork. Chan Augusta Pearl's subsequent narrow-angle attempt was also thwarted by the keeper. HKFC slowly began to gain the upper hand. Bolchover Isadora Marnie Pyman sent in a cross from the right flank in the 27th minute, targeting the unmarked Ng Sum Yau Isa in the box. However, the latter's strike failed to find the back of the net. A minute later, HKFC seized their chance. Matsumoto Kanon let loose a long-range shot from outside the penalty area, finding the top corner and edging HKFC ahead with a 2:1 scoreline. Lucky Mile rallied before halftime, with Moi Lei Ngai's powerful 25-yard free kick ricocheting off the crossbar. Winmill Charlotte Elizabeth May also had a go at the net after receiving a long pass, but her effort went astray. The first half concluded with HKFC maintaining their 2:1 lead.
In the second half, Lucky Mile launched an aggressive offensive to claw back into the game, but their efforts were hampered when they conceded another goal at the 46th minute. Bolchover Isadora Marnie Pyman delivered a pinpoint cross to McCAUGHEY Erin Grace, who easily converted the chance, extending HKFC's lead to 3:1. Lucky Mile persisted, repeatedly threatening the goal. A long-range shot from Winmill Charlotte Elizabeth May in the 56th minute was deflected by the keeper and bounced off the crossbar, and Kim Aone's one-on-one attempt with goalkeeper was blocked by the keeper’s leg in the 66th minute. Despite their relentless efforts, Lucky Mile's attempts remained fruitless. In the 69th minute, Ng Mikayla Megan's cross found Kim Aone in the box, but the latter's shot lacked the required power and was comfortably saved by the keeper. In the dying minutes of the match, Lucky Mile's Ogawa Lea's free-kick was saved, and Kim Aone's rebound attempt was a split-second too late, allowing the defender to clear the ball.
At the final whistle, HKFC emerged victorious with a 3:1 scoreline, clinching the Jockey Club Women's Youth Football League (U15) FA Cup championship, leaving Lucky Mile as the honorable runners-up.
