In an exhilarating showdown at the Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre Pitch No.4, HKFC triumphed over Grace Citizen 5:1 in the semi-finals of the Jockey Club Women's Youth Football League (U15) FA Cup. This dominating performance ensures their spot in the final match.
The match commenced with HKFC dictating the play, with Yao Katelyn delivering a promising cross just 4 minutes into the game, which Chandler Anna Rose Ming-Yeh narrowly missed converting into a goal from a tight angle. As the game progressed to the 10th minute, HKFC maintained their offensive pressure, with Yao Katelyn's fierce strike from within the penalty area sadly hitting the side netting. Grace Citizen made their first significant response a minute later when Chong Ching Lam Jaylynn unleashed a long-range shot from outside the penalty area, which was expertly thwarted by goalkeeper Poysat Elena Bao Yiya.
At the 16th minute mark, HKFC created another golden chance. Yao Katelyn latched onto a direct pass from Matsumoto Kanon, but his tight-angle effort was denied by the vigilant Grace Citizen' goalkeeper, Li Yuet Tung. Despite being on the back foot, Grace Citizen broke the deadlock in the 21st minute. Liu Sin Huen Shelby managed to evade her marker in the penalty area after receiving a pass from Yeung Ching Chi Mavis, and slotted home into the near post, edging Grace Citizen ahead with a 1:0 lead. However, HKFC retaliated swiftly, leveling the score at 1:1 just two minutes later through Matsumoto Kanon's thunderous long-range strike from outside the penalty area.
Grace Citizen subsequently attempted to regain their lead via a series of corner kicks, but Leung Ching Tung 's efforts failed to find the mark on both occasions. HKFC continued to probe for openings in the latter half of the game, with Li Rachel Sun Wai's shot from the edge of the penalty area being parried away by the goalkeeper. Subsequently, Bolchover Isadora Marnie Pyman's powerful header from Matsumoto Kanon's corner kick just went wide. The teams went into the break with the score pegged at 1:1.
The second half saw HKFC maintaining their ascendancy, and they managed to turn the game around in the 46th minute. After a corner kick by Matsumoto Kanon, Grace Citizen' defenders failed to effectively clear the ball, allowing Li Rachel Sun Wai to seize the moment and blast home a right-footed shot, edging the HKFC ahead with a 2:1 advantage. HKFC widened the gap five minutes later, when a cross from McCAUGHEY Erin Grace deflected off the inside post and into the net, extending their lead to 3:1. Despite trailing, Grace Citizen refused to capitulate. In the 64th minute, Chong Ching Lam Jaylynn's direct free-kick was saved by the goalkeeper, and three minutes later, a penalty was awarded when Chau Tsz Yuet was tripped in the box. Regrettably, Liu Sin Huen Shelby's spot-kick just skewed wide.
HKFC gradually asserted their dominance and netted a fourth goal in the 76th minute when Bolchover Isadora Marnie Pyman went down following a collision with an opponent, and McCAUGHEY Erin Grace pounced on the loose ball to score, making it a commanding 4:1. Just before the final whistle, Chandler Anna Rose Ming-Yeh from HKFC delivered a corner from the right. Grace Citizen' defenders were unable to clear, and Ippolito Emma capitalized on the ensuing scramble to slot home from close range.
In the final reckoning, HKFC emerged victorious over Grace Citizen 5:1, and thus progress to the finals of the Jockey Club Women's Youth Football League (U15) FA Cup.
