In the Jockey Club Women's Football League (1st Division) match held at Tsang Tai Uk Recreation Ground on June 3, Litchee defeated Sha Tin 2:0, securing the league championship with an impressive record of 14 wins and 1 draw.
Kitchee dominated the first half, with players Cham Ching Man and Cheung Wai Ki both having their shots saved by goalkeeper Tsang Chiu Yin Shannon. In the 14th minute, Chu Po Yan received a cross in the box but missed the target with her shot. However, in the 32nd minute, she capitalized on a through ball, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and scored into an empty net to give Kitchee a 1-0 lead.
Sha Tin finally created a threatening chance in the 40th minute when Chan Wing Sze took a long-range shot that was comfortably caught by the goalkeeper. Just before halftime, Kitchee earned a free kick, and Cheung Wai Ki scored with a direct shot into the top right corner, extending their lead to 2:0.
In the second half, Kitchee maintained the majority of possession. In the 53rd minute, Wong Ka Sze's long-range effort went off target, and in the 76th minute, Ho Mui Mei cross was met by Chan Hoi Ching, whose shot was saved by the flying goalkeeper.
Ultimately, Kitchee secured a 2:0 victory over Sha Tin, finishing the league season with 14 wins and 1 draw to claim the Jockey Club Women's Football League(1st Division) title.
Kitchee captain Chung Pui Ki reflected on the season, stating, “We experienced many ups and downs this season. At the beginning, everyone was in great form, but we faced some fatigue midway through. When we learned we could secure the league title early, the team played more relaxed, and we hadn't quite returned to our initial form. However, we finally regained our best shape in the last few matches.”
Kitchee will face TSL FC in the Jockey Club Women's Football League FA Cup final this Sunday. Chung revealed that the team has intensified training recently: “We have been conducting intensive training sessions, with about five sessions a week.”
Chung also emphasized the importance of performance in the final against TSL FC, stating, “We aim for the championship. We absolutely hope to achieve a double this season. We have faced Yuen Footwear multiple times in the past, and our performance on the day will determine the outcome. We hope everyone can follow the coach’s instructions and perform to the best of our abilities.”
