Eastern came out firing in the opening exchanges, with Calum Hall delivering a pinpoint cross to Marcos Gondra, whose clinical turn and left-footed effort from 18 yards narrowly sailed over the crossbar.
North District responded swiftly, orchestrating a dangerous counter-attack as Wong Wai Kwok teed up Lo Kong Wai, whose powerful drive from outside the area forced Eastern's goalkeeper into a spectacular diving save.
