The Jockey Club Women's Football League FA Cup final took place on Sunday (14th) at the HKFC Stadium, featuring a highly anticipated clash between newly crowned league champions TSL FC and defending champions Kitchee. In this peak matchup of local women's football, TSL FC showed their attacking class. Thanks to a brace from striker LEUNG HONG KIU ANKE and a calm second-half finish from BANDOJA ISABELLA MARIE, they secured a comfortable 3:0 win over the "Bluebirds" to lift the trophy and seal a historic first-ever domestic Double.
TSL FC took control right from the kickoff, using sharp winger play to dominate the midfield and disrupt Kitchee's defense. Just 6 minutes into the game, they almost scored. CHAN YEE HING made a quick run down the left and crossed into the box. An unmarked CHAN TSZ SHAN met it with a first-time shot, but the ball went just wide of the post—a serious warning for the Kitchee backline.
TSL FC kept the pressure high, using a strong press to force mistakes from Kitchee's defenders. In the 12th minute, they hit Kitchee with a quick counter-attack. LEUNG HONG KIU ANKE chased down a long pass and used her pace to break into the box, where Kitchee center-back DANIELLE ANNA MARIA brought her down. The referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. LEUNG HONG KIU ANKE stepped up herself, calmly sending the keeper the wrong way to give TSL FC a 1:0 lead.
Going a goal down, Kitchee worked hard to fight back, with their midfielders covering more ground. In the 19th minute, CHEUNG WAI KI played a clever pass to CHU PO YAN, who cut inside from the right and fired towards the near post, but TSL FC goalkeeper NG CHEUK WAI made a clean save. Kitchee threatened again in the 34th minute when HO MUI MEI’s long-range shot took a deflection. CHEUNG WAI KI reacted quickest to the loose ball for a close-range follow-up, but NG CHEUK WAI pulled off another excellent reflex save. TSL FC kept their 1:0 lead at halftime.
TSL FC showed no signs of sitting back in the second half. Instead, they tightened their midfield marking, making it incredibly difficult for Kitchee to even cross the halfway line. Just seven minutes after the restart, their pressure paid off. A misunderstanding in the Kitchee defense allowed BANDOJA ISABELLA MARIE to steal the ball on the edge of the area. She drove into the box and coolly slotted it past the keeper to make it 2:0.
With time running out, Kitchee threw everyone forward and created their best chance of the match in the 60th minute. CHEUNG WAI KI collected a cross from the right at the top of the box and unleashed a powerful left-footed volley. The ball beat the keeper but rattled off the crossbar, denying Kitchee a way back into the game.
Kitchee’s all-out attack left plenty of space at the back, giving counter-attacking experts TSL FC more room to break. In the 67th minute, substitute WONG HIU TING made an instant impact by playing a perfect through-ball that split the Kitchee defense. LEUNG HONG KIU ANKE turned her defender smartly and finished with ease to make it 3:0, scoring her second goal of the night.
Although Kitchee gave everything in the final minutes to find a consolation goal, TSL FC defended like a wall and refused to give in. TSL FC held onto their 3:0 lead until the final whistle, lifting the FA Cup to the cheers of their fans and putting the perfect finishing touch on a dream season.
