In the 6th minute, Adrian outjumped Ryota in the penalty area and unleashed a quick shot, but it hit the crossbar and bounced out. Following this, Junior had two consecutive long-range shots, one saved by the goalkeeper and the other going over the bar. In the 32nd minute, Kendy passed the ball wide from midfield, and Illarramendi fired a shot from the edge of the penalty area into the net, his first goal for Kitchee since joining the club. At halftime, Kitchee led 1-0.
After the break, in the 47th minute, Tan Chun-lok received a long pass and fired a shot from a narrow angle, which was saved by Yip Ka-yu with one hand. Just four minutes later, Tan Chun-lok passed back to Leandro on the edge of the penalty area, but the latter's close-range shot failed to find the net. In the 53rd minute, Illarramendi's free-kick again threatened the opponent's goal, but the ball only grazed the post and went out of play.
In the 65th minute, Wong Ho-chun came on as a substitute. In the 76th minute, Rangers nearly equalized on a counter-attack. Kitchee extended their lead in the 84th minute when Wong Ho-chun crossed from the left, and Adrian tapped it in, making it 2-0. Four minutes later, Wong Ho-chun scored, receiving a cross from Mingazov and slotting it home. Kitchee ultimately defeated Rangers 3-0, securing all three points.
