Resources Capital took on HK U23 at Tsing Yi Sports Ground for the latest BOC Hong Kong Premier League fixture.Resources Capital had numerous scoring chances but failed to penetrate the opposing defense, resulting in a goalless draw with HK U23. It was the first time since their establishment that HK U23 had kept a clean sheet in the league.
Resources Capital dominated the game from the start and kept knocking on HK U23’s door. On the 10th minute, Yuen Sai Kit cut inside from left and curled the ball towards the far post,but was denied by the goalkeeper's spectacular save. Resources Capital had another chance on the 20th minute with Hui Chak Wai's teasing cross from the left, but Ki Sze Ho's header was again saved by the goalkeeper. HK U23 started to grow into proceedings and try to find a way to score,Lam Hok Hei fired a low drive at the edge of the box but was easily caught by the goalkeeper. Despite Resources Capital's possession advantage in the first half, they struggled to break through HK U23's solid defense, and the first half ended in a goalless draw.
Resources Capital still enjoyed the upper hand in the second half.Just right after the opening whistle of the second half,they pressured off the ball near HK U23’s penalty area and Lam Lok Yin had a chance to shoot from long-range,only to see his effort was tipped off by the goalkeeper’s fingertips again.On the 57th minute,Tsang Chung Nam sent a well-placed cross from right,but the unmarked teammate Wong Ching Tak;s header from close-range missed the target. HK U23 also had a chance to score late in the second half,with Lam Hok Hei’s attempt from narrow angle was blocked by the goalkeeper. In the end, both teams settled for a goalless draw, earning one point each.
