Citizen and Kitchee met up on late Sunday afternoon in Kowloon Bay Park, competing for the Jockey Cup Women’s League FA Cup trophy. Andrea Fraser’s goal proved to be the difference of the game, as Kitchee edged past Citizen 1:0 and triumphed in the Jockey Club Women’s League FA Cup final.

Citizen wasted no time and went knocking on the Kitchee door early in the game. On the 6th minute, Citizen’s Ng Wing-kum pulled the trigger from the right flank but could not get past Kitchee keeper Leung Wai-nga.

Afterwards, Citizen had a glorious chance to break the game open. On the 25th minute, a Kitchee player committed a foul inside her own box. The referee quickly pointed to the penalty-spot. Chu Ling-ling was tasked with the spot-kick duty but drilled her shot over the Kitchee crossbar.

It was Kitchee’s turn past the half-hour mark. Andrea Fraser took aim and fired away but saw her shot took a deflection off a Citizen player. Fu Chiu-man stepped up and let rip but sent the ball wide off the Citizen goal.

On the 42nd minute, Citizen’s Chan Wing-sze tried to power her side in front with a long-range free-kick. Unfortunately for the Citizen skipper, her shot was easily handled by Kitchee goalkeeper Leung Wai-nga.

The match remained scoreless heading into the half-time break.

Citizen started the second-half positively and almost opened the score. On the 48th minute, Cheung Wai-ki picked out teammate Wai Yuen-ting with a lovely pass. Wai fought off pressure from the Kitchee defense and pulled the trigger, only to witness her shot easily controlled by Kitchee goalkeeper Leung Wai-nga.

On the 64th minute, it was Kitchee that opened the score on a counter-attack. Andrea Fraser found herself on the receiving end of a teammate’s long pass. The extremely alert Fraser then fired a quick shot that snuck past the Citizen goalkeeper and entered the net. Kitchee was now up by a goal.

On the 79th minute, Kitchee almost doubled its lead, as Harriet Ho’s corner-kick from the right side found teammate Pauline Ng. Ng dished out a courageous header but failed to direct the ball on target.

Citizen nearly tied the game on the 83rd minute, as Chan Wing-sze sent teammate Cheung Wai-ki behind the Kitchee defense. Cheung darted into the box and fired away but saw her shot smothered by Kitchee goalkeeper Leung Wai-nga.

Late in regulation time, Citizen’s Cheung Wai-ki unleashed a tight-angle shot from the right side of the Kitchee penalty area but was once again turned away by goalkeeper Leung Wai-nga.

The 1:0 score stood towards the final whistle, as Kitchee edged Citizen by a goal and won the Jockey Club Women’s League FA Cup trophy.
