In a thrilling encounter at Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre on Thursday (May 29), Best Union Yuen Long clinched the second runner-up in the Jockey Club Futsal League (Division 1) with a commanding 9:2 victory over North District, highlighted by a magnificent hat-trick from talisman Chan Tsz Shun and clinical doubles from Chung Cheuk Nam and Wong Tik Sang Dickson.
The match was a masterclass in attacking football from Best Union Yuen Long against an undermanned North District side. The prolific Chan Tsz Shun opened the scoring with a sublime strike from central position within 60 seconds, before doubling his tally with another clinical finish in the 4th minute. Despite North District's resilient response through Wong Wai Chun's double effort from both flanks in the 6th minute - expertly denied by shot-stopper Li Yat Long Aaron - and Bemjamin Ortega's powerful attempt moments later, they couldn't breach the defense. Wong Tik Sang Dickson extended the advantage in the 11th minute with a close-range finish. The first-half goalfest continued as Chung Cheuk Nam found the net from midfield, followed by Chan Tsz Shun's thunderbolt and Sy Chun Hin's quickfire double, sending Best Union Yuen Long into the break with a commanding 6:0 lead.
The second half saw North District launch a spirited fightback, with Tai Tsz Hin Marcus rattling the crossbar from distance and Bemjamin Ortega finally breaking through the defense to pull one back. However, Best Union Yuen Long's superiority showed as Chung Cheuk Nam netted his second with a predatory finish in the 34th minute. The scoreline stretched to 8:1 through an unfortunate own goal by Siu Sai Chung, deflecting Chan Tsz Shun 's powerful drive. In a display of determination, North District's Bemjamin Ortega showcased individual brilliance, setting up Wong Wai Chun for a consolation goal, before Wong Tik Sang Dickson completed his brace to seal an emphatic 9:2 victory.
With this comprehensive 9:2 victory, Best Union Yuen Long secured all three points and a well-deserved third-place finish in the prestigious Jockey Club Futsal League (Division 1).
