KC Southern draw with Eastern by 1:1 in the JC Sapling Cup (Group A) at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground today.
Kwoon Chung Southern started the game with a promising scoring chance. In the early stages, a free kick from the left side by Togashi Ryoo found Stefan Pereira's head, but the goalkeeper made an impressive save to deny the goal.
As the game progressed, Eastern gradually took control of the proceedings. In the 23rd minute, Noah Baffoe made an impressive run down the left flank into the penalty area, only to be fouled by Chan Yun Tung. The referee promptly awarded a penalty, but unfortunately, Marcos Gondra's shot soared high above the crossbar.
In the 32nd minute, Eastern continued their attacking onslaught. A pinpoint pass down the middle from Marcos Gondra found Ma Hei Wai, who unleashed a powerful shot from a tight angle inside the penalty area, narrowly missing the target.
Despite being on the back foot, Kwoon Chung Southern managed to break the deadlock just before halftime. Despite being reduced to 10 men in injury time due to Jose Carlos receiving two yellow cards and one red card, Kwoon Chung Southern showed great resilience, successfully defending their goal until the final whistle.
In the end, Eastern and Kwoon Chung Southern shared the spoils with a 1:1 draw, with both teams taking away a valuable point from the encounter.
