Mr. Mark Sutcliffe, Chief Executive Officer of HKFA said "The Jockey Club-funded Summer Scheme is one of the highlights of the football development calendar. Thanks to our sponsor and partner, every year literally thousands of children across Hong Kong get the opportunity to learn and play football with their friends in a safe and fun environment. The HKFA strives to improve the scheme every year and to make it a positive experience, one that hopefully encourages children to make football a lifetime habit. Our coaches are always on the lookout for talent and so as well as a fun event, the Summer Scheme is also part of our development pathway. I look forward to another successful scheme and would encourage children of all skill levels to join in.”

Ms. Rhoda Chan, The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Head of Charities (Grant Making – Sports, Recreation, Arts & Culture) said the Club had long been committed to football development in Hong Kong, believing that playing sports could help boost physical fitness, as well as create positive values and hope in the community. “Football helps participants to build self-confidence, nurtures their leadership skills and develops team spirit,” she explained. “That’s why the Club supported the Jockey Club HKFA 5-Year Football Development Programme with a Trust donation of HK$119 million in 2015. It is the first-ever holistic football development programme in Hong Kong.”
