The Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) announced today that the 2011/2012 League Cup will be sponsored by Halewinner Limited and will subsequently be named, “2011/2012 Halewinner League Cup”.
Mr. Brian Leung, Chairman of the HKFA, Mr. Steven Lo, Vice Chairman of the HKFA and Mr. Peter Leung, Managing Director of Halewinner Limited are all on hand for today’s press conference, contract-signing ceremony and the announcement regarding competition details, participating teams, as well as the tournament’s prize-money.
Brian Leung, Chairman of the HKFA commented, “we are extremely pleased to confirm that Halewinner will be sponsoring this year’s league cup. Halewinner is a Hong Kong based retailer of high-end watch products. We are confident that we can help to promote the Halewinner brand to our many supporters and followers of football in Hong Kong. It’s also great news for the HKFA and especially so soon after our exciting win at the weekend against the Guangdong Province”.

2. Format of the 2011/2012 Halewinner League Cup—this season’s competition will be played under a single-match knock-out format. The full match will be played in 90 minutes with two 45-minutes halves. If the match remains tied after 90 minutes, two 15-minutes extra time halves will be played. Should the match still remain unsolved, penalty kicks will take place in order to determine the winner. The first-round match-ups of the Halewinner League Cup will be determined by the league positions of the participating teams, after the completion of the first round of the 2011/2012 league fixtures.
