Yuen Long and Dreams Metro Gallery met up in Yuen Long Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a clash between two middle-weight sides in the BOCG Life Hong Kong Premier League. Yuen Long delighted their home supporters by chalking up a 2:1 victory over Dreams Metro Gallery while collecting all three points.
Dreams Metro Gallery had good opportunities to draw first blood in the game. Unfortunately, headers from Lau Hok-ming and Leung Kwok-wai both failed to find the intended target.
The visitors almost went in front on the 28th minute, when Wong Tsz-ho’s volley looked set for the Yuen Long net, only to be sensationally stopped by keeper Felix Luk in goal.
Dreams Metro Gallery continued to lay pressure towards the Yuen Long net. On the 29th minute, Yiu Ho-ming put on an eye-popping solo-effort that saw the youngster beat three Yuen Long players before ripping a shot towards goal. Unfortunately for Yiu, his wonderful effort ended up hitting the goal-post. Kenji Fukuda tried to pounce on the rebound but was left empty-handed.
Yuen Long finally threatened the Dreams Metro Gallery goal on the 36th minute, when Yan Pak-long pulled the trigger from the top of the box but saw his shot smartly claimed by Pang Tsz-kin in the Dreams Metro Gallery goal.
Right before the half time whistle, Leonidas Soares almost nicked the lead for the visitors. However, Soares’ long-range bomb from the top of the box hit the goal-post and stayed out of the net. The game remained scoreless heading into the interval.
Yuen Long nearly took the lead early in the second half. On the 52nd minute, Yuan Yang utilized his speed down the right flank, penetrated deep inside the Dreams Metro Gallery box before drilling a shot that was nicely stopped by keeper Pang Tsz-kin.
The home side finally broke the game open on the 53rd minute, when Yip Tsz-chun set up teammate Luciano Da Silva nicely. The latter did not disappoint and found the back of the Dreams Metro Gallery net with a fine strike, putting Yuen Long in front.
Yuen Long managed to double its lead ten minutes later. On the 63rd minute, Park Chan-jong connected with a teammate’s corner-kick and headed the ball home. The score was now 2:0 with the home side in front.
Dreams Metro Gallery cut Yuen Long’s lead into half on the 71st minute, when Yiu Ho-ming drilled a dangerous shot that beat keeper Felix Luk and went into the net. The score was now 2:1.
Deep in stoppage time, Yuen Long almost sealed the game with a smart goal, when Aleksandar Randelovic sent teammate Yan Pak-long through with a sweet pass. Yan was virtually one-on-one against Dreams Metro Gallery keeper Pang Tsz-kin but saw his shot brilliantly saved by the visiting keeper.
Both sides failed to add to the score in the remaining regulation time, as Yuen Long held on to the lead and defeated Dreams Metro Gallery 2:1.
