Dreams Metro Gallery and BC Rangers squared off on late Saturday afternoon in Tsing Yi Sports Ground for the latest FA Cup quarter-final matchup. BC Rangers conceded first but regrouped and stormed back to claim an impressive 5:2 victory over Dreams Metro Gallery, advancing to the next round of the tournament.
BC Rangers came very close to securing an early lead. On the 3rd minute, Ernesto Gomez swung a free-kick into the Dreams Metro Gallery box. Quentin Lendresse leapt high but nodded the ball over the Dreams Metro Gallery crossbar.
Dreams Metro Gallery opened the score on the 22nd minute, when Leung Kwok-wai’s overhead kick failed to find the BC Rangers goal. A Dreams Metro Gallery player managed to send the ball back to the BC Rangers danger area. Kenji Fukuda took care of the rest and fired the ball into the net, putting his side in front.
BC Rangers nearly drew level on the 26th minute, when Ernesto Gomez’s shot from the right side was smartly claimed by Dreams Metro Gallery keeper Li Yat-chun.
Gomez continued to threaten the Dreams Metro Gallery goal and had successive chances to bring his side level around the 40th minute mark. Unfortunately, both his shot and header failed to get past Dreams Metro Gallery keeper Li Yat-chun.
BC Rangers drew level on the 44th minute, when Tommy Chuck dribbled with the ball down the left-side and was brought down by a Dreams Metro Gallery player inside the penalty area. Tommy Chuck dusted himself off, stepped up to take the spot-kick and blasted it into the net, tying the game at 1:1.
BC Rangers took the lead on the 50th minute. Ernesto Gomez was a major threat on the right side and sent the ball into the Dreams Metro Gallery box. A Dreams Metro Gallery player managed to clear the ball away, only for it to drop in front of Diego Folgar. The latter unleashed a curling shot that beat keeper Li Yat-chun and went into the net. BC Rangers was now in front 2:1
Dreams Metro Gallery’s Kenji Fukuda tried to get his side on level terms and almost did so on the 68th minute with a close-range header. However, young BC Rangers keeper Yip Ka-yu was in a great position and pulled off a crucial save.
BC Rangers added another goal on the 71st minute, when Quentin Lendresse broke loose on the right side before delivering the ball to the Dreams Metro Gallery danger area. Tommy Chuck kept his cool by collecting the ball and then slotting it past keeper Li Yat-chun. The score was now 3:1 for BC Rangers.
On the 87th minute, Quentin Lendresse broke behind the Dreams Metro Gallery defense and coolly fired the ball into the net, making it 4:1.
BC Rangers’ Hui Ka-lok and Dreams Metro Gallery’s Leonidas Soares traded goals late in the game but had little effect on the eventual outcome. The score was now 5:2.
The score stood towards the final whistle, as BC Rangers booked its place in the FA Cup semi-final by defeating Dreams Metro Gallery 5:2.
